Position Description:

The VDC Specialist will support project VDC execution through BIM coordination, model-based planning, digital deliverables, and collaboration with project, field, design, trade, and client stakeholders. The Specialist will work closely with the VDC Project Manager, operations, preconstruction, and reality capture teams to help establish and maintain effective digital workflows for the project.

The position will initially be based out of our main office in Edmonton, Alberta, with the role later shifting to a project site located near Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

Reports to: VDC Project Manager, VDC Manager

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Approach tasks collaboratively and foster strong professional relationships and communication with teammates, trades, design partners, clients, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct BIM coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders, track action items, and support communication across the project VDC team.
  • Review design and trade models for constructability, completeness, alignment, and coordination.
  • Support BIM execution planning, model exchange workflows, file management, and document control.
  • Prepare and maintain production tracking deliverables including quantity variance reporting, 4D/schedule support, and model-based planning outputs.
  • Regular presence at the project site to collaborate with stakeholders, identify constructability issues, and communicate practical solutions to relevant parties.
  • Integrate reality capture, estimating, and other project data into VDC workflows where required.
  • Support setup and use of project digital tools and common data environment workflows, including Autodesk Forma/ACC and related collaboration platforms.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by helping test, refine, and standardize VDC workflows and tools.
  • Support training and onboarding of project teams in agreed digital workflows and tools.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and project support activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in VDC, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, with 4+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Strong understanding of BIM/VDC processes and multidisciplinary model coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, scopes of work, contract documents, and project schedules.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Forma/ACC, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with project teams, trade partners, consultants, and clients in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Experience with model-based takeoff, 4D planning, production tracking, or related VDC workflows is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Dynamo, Python, visualization tools, or reality capture integration is an asset.
  • Experience on large, complex, industrial, mission critical, or data center projects.
  • Experience working in project-embedded VDC environments supporting field execution and client-facing deliverables.
  • Travel as required.
