About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director of Transformation and Modernization. The Technical Director will be accountable for end-to-end transformation while leading principal engineers for Cards Personal Lending and Retail Services organizational strategy supporting technology modernization and business growth. In this role, you will:

  • Own technology transformation strategy across Card Personal Lending and Retail Services, focused on modernization, scalability, reliability, and simplification

  • Serve as escalation point for complex technical challenges that span multiple L4 product domains

  • Principal Engineers report into this leader, ensuring consistency in engineering standards, architecture decisions, and modernization execution

  • Partners with Architecture & Engineering, Platform Services, and EDP on DCMS, cloud, SRE, DevOps, and AIfirst engineering adoption

  • Drives engineering governance, technical debt reduction, and longterm platform health across Cards, Lending, and Merchant ecosystems

  • Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads

  • Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities

  • Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders

  • Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans

  • Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices

  • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third party providers

  • Identify financial management and strategic resourcing

  • Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives

  • Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent

  • Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation

  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers

  • Lead team to achieve objectives

  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Must be able to work on multiple projects in virtual environment where key team members and partners are in various time zones and locations

  • Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement change

  • Must have excellent communications and teamwork skills, be self-directed, self-motivated, committed, and a quick learner

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence or a related field

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$215,000.00 - $355,000.00
