JOB DESCRIPTION

The Online Secondary Principal directs virtual campus operations, learning management platforms, instructional technology, and staff. This role ensures all virtual students acquire essential knowledge and skills while managing online instructional processes, enforcing digital policies, and serving as a key resource for remote learning. The Online Secondary Principal actively coordinates virtual school activities, addresses technology integration challenges, builds digital school culture, and addresses student issues in a remote environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Secondary Principal will need to do the following:

  • Direct online learning management systems (LMS), administrative platforms, and virtual school activities to maintain safe, secure, and efficient digital learning environments.
  • Evaluate virtual instructional personnel, observe synchronous and asynchronous teaching, and provide targeted professional development focused on online instructional strategies and digital tools.
  • Oversee the implementation of educational technology tools, digital curriculum, and remote learning platforms to maximize student learning outcomes and engagement.
  • Maintain clear communication across virtual channels (email, web conferencing, learning portals) to address parent concerns, resolve student issues, and support families.
  • Chair meetings for the purpose of coordinating activities and ensuring that outcomes achieve school, district and/or state objectives.
  • Collaborate with secondary principals to coordinate online educational opportunities for students.
  • Develop budgets and financial forecasts for the purpose of providing financial guidance and recommendations to administrative personnel, Superintendent and Board of Education.
  • Evaluate assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.
  • Facilitate communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and resolving conflicts.
  • Implement policies, procedures and processes for the purpose of providing direction and complying with mandated requirements.
  • Manage school administrative functions (e.g. facility maintenance, budget, staffing, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Prepare a wide variety of materials (e.g. reports, student activities, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information.
  • Present information (e.g. budget overviews, accounting processes, distribution formulas, etc.) for the purpose of communication information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.
  • Lead digital meetings with staff, district leadership, and community stakeholders to align online practices with state, district, and educational technology standards.
  • Represent the school within community forums for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and assisting with issues related to the school environment.
  • Supervise instructional personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of the school's curriculum.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Be fingerprinted and clear a criminal background check.
  • Education: Must have an Administrative certificate. Master's in Educational Leadership is preferred.
  • Endorsement: Educational Technology (EdTech) endorsement strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Education related experience is required. Teaching and administrative experience in a virtual, hybrid, or technology-infused setting preferred.
