1099 Recruiter Remote information

What is a 1099 recruiter remote?

A 1099 Recruiter working remotely is an independent contractor who helps companies find and hire candidates for open positions, but instead of being an employee, they work under a 1099 tax status. This means they are responsible for their own taxes and benefits and typically work from home or any location outside the employer's office. Remote 1099 recruiters often source candidates, screen resumes, and coordinate interviews using online tools, offering flexibility for both the recruiter and the employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 1099 recruiter remote?

To excel as a 1099 Recruiter working remotely, you generally need a background in talent acquisition, strong networking skills, and experience with full-cycle recruiting. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), sourcing platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter, and sometimes knowledge of employment law or relevant certifications (e.g., AIRS, SHRM) are commonly required. Exceptional communication, self-motivation, and organizational skills help recruiters stand out when operating independently and managing multiple clients. These abilities are crucial for efficiently sourcing top talent, meeting client needs, and successfully navigating the challenges of remote, contract-based recruiting.

What are some common challenges faced by remote 1099 recruiters, and how can they be addressed?

Remote 1099 recruiters often encounter challenges such as staying motivated without direct supervision, building strong relationships with clients and candidates virtually, and managing their own workflow as independent contractors. To address these, it's important to establish a structured daily routine, utilize video calls for more personal interactions, and leverage digital tools for tracking tasks and communication. Staying proactive with client updates and networking can also help maintain engagement and success in this flexible work setup.

Job description

Be part of a growing team with a national presence! At Layton Construction, a proud member of STO Building Group, we're known for building with integrity and delivering exceptional results across the country. We're looking for a Talent Acquisition Recruiter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and is ready to make an impact from day one.
In this role, you'll own a wide range of requisitions, partner directly with hiring managers, and come prepared to serve as a trusted advisor. If you don't thrive in a fast-paced environment, this may not be the role for you. But if you're motivated by results, enjoy juggling multiple priorities, and want to be part of a collaborative recruiting group-you'll fit right in!
Responsibilities
  • Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
  • Manage a large portfolio of requisitions, balancing urgency and quality in every search.
  • Partner with hiring managers and business leaders to understand workforce needs and deliver strong recruiting strategies.
  • Source, screen, and close candidates across multiple disciplines, with an emphasis on construction and subcontractor-related roles.
  • Adapt quickly to changing business priorities and support team goals by aligning efforts with peers.
  • Ensure a seamless candidate experience through timely communication and consistent follow-up.
  • Leverage data and reporting to track progress, share insights, and drive accountability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 2-3 years of recruiting experience, with demonstrated success in high-volume hiring environments.
  • Experience in construction management, skilled trades, utility construction or related industries highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workflow, while staying aligned with the broader recruiting team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple searches in a fast-changing environment.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with both candidates and hiring teams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and adaptability are critical.
  • Proficiency in ATS systems, LinkedIn Recruiter, and other sourcing platforms.

What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a driven Recruiter who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced, and constantly evolving environment. You're energized by the challenge of running searches end-to-end, and you work seamlessly with peers to share strategies, support one another, and deliver results as a team.
