$16.80 - $21.83/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.


Overview
This position will provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. The first line of action will be to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in any at risk behaviors. Next will be to summon the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Monitor staff will be knowledgeable and abide by patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies. The patient safety monitor tech needs to be able to multi-task, effectively prioritize and have a sense of urgency when observing high risk behaviors.
What you will do

  • Remotely monitor patients, observe patients to ensure no harm to self or others. Escalates concerns as appropriate. Prevents patent from attempting self-harm, falling, injuring self, and removing tubes or lines. Coaches patient or uses comforting touch of reassurance to help patient ambulate safely. The PSA is not a hands on team member and cannot assist the patient with ADL's that the patient cannot normally do for themselves.
  • Provides floor staff with information in a timely fashion when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assures patient environment safety. Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to appropriate staff members.
  • Complete all assigned duties in a competent, professional, timely and satisfactory manner.


Qualifications
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED, (Required)


Experience

  • 1 year Experience in an acute care environment, with direct patient care and clinical experience (Preferred)
