Job description

Join Our Team: Virtual Program Facilitator for Brain Injury Intervention Classes
Brain Injury Solutions (BIS) is a mission-driven organization providing person-centered case management and support to brain injury survivors and their families. We pride ourselves on a collaborative, compassionate team environment — and we’re growing! We are currently hiring one part-time, remote facilitator to lead our Community Living Connection (CLiC) online brain injury intervention classes. This role offers meaningful, hands-on experience supporting brain injury survivors and caregivers in a virtual environment. Our Facilitators often find this work deeply rewarding and inspiring.
Position Highlights:
  • Part-time (up to 20 hours per week depending on program needs).
  • Remote (within our service area of Southwest/Central Virginia) with paid training (in-person training preferred).
  • Agency-provided computer equipment for data entry, documentation, and performance of job duties.
  • Starting hourly wage of $15.00/hour with the potential to increase after 90 days based on performance.

Flexible scheduling, with general availability required during:
  • Weekdays (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM)
  • Evenings twice per month (6:30 PM - 8:30 PM)

Facilitator Responsibilities Include: (Facilitators may moderate or lead a variety of virtual CLiC sessions.)
CLiC Foundation:
  • Guide participants through a structured cognitive compensatory curriculum with engaging discussions and activities.
  • Runs Fall & Spring, 12 weeks/session, 2x per week, up to 9 hours/week.
CLiC Forward & CLiC Forward 1:
  • Support participant wellness through interactive discussion, instructor content, and peer sharing.
  • Forward: 12 weeks/session, 2x per week.
  • Forward 1: 6 weeks/session, 1 hour/session.
CLiC Care:
  • Facilitate monthly discussions on brain injury wellness topics, including occasional guest speakers.
  • Meets 2nd Tuesday each month.
CLiC Social:
  • Host monthly peer social gatherings featuring online games and lighthearted discussion.
  • Meets last Thursday each month.
CLiC Daily:
  • Lead weekly sessions centered around structured content or live instruction.
  • Ongoing, weekly throughout the year.
CLiC REIgnite:
  • Moderate sessions focused on long-term health and reintegration skills for participants in the Roanoke City Adult Detention Center
  • Wellness and community reentry focus.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Familiarity with brain injury and other neurological disorders.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and programming for individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of physical, cognitive, psychological, emotional, and/or communication disabilities.
  • Basic understanding of behavioral management techniques.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with participants, caregivers, and team members.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfort with technology and ability to quickly learn new tools (training provided).

Job Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in one of the following fields of study: Psychology, Life Sciences, Allied or Biomed Sciences, Sociology, Public Health, Social Work, or other related fields.
  • Related certifications with relevant coursework will be considered in lieu of undergraduate degree.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Must be able to meet the physical and cognitive demands required for safe and effective performance of essential job functions.
  • Ability to move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish colors in an emergency.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with a variety of individuals, including clients, caregivers, staff, and community partners.
