Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Learning and Development, plays a pivotal role in driving impactful learning initiatives across the assigned region within Corrugated North America. This role supports learning and development covering approximately $2 billion annually, 25 sites, and 2400+ employees across the container and sheet manufacturing facilities producing custom and standard corrugated packaging with high-impact graphics and durable materials engineered to protect and promote products across all delivery channels, supported by facilities throughout North America.
Must be comfortable working in manufacturing environments and willing to travel up to 50%. This role partners with key stakeholders across the assigned Corrugated Packaging region to support the development, implementation, and execution of learning needs. This includes identification and communication of skill needs and responsibility to improve learning solutions for classroom training or equipment training utilizing new learning technology, so we can better scale and deliver learning to teams in the flow of work. This leader should be able to help manage and deliver learning, facilitate, and build training processes that enable skill sustainment, measurement, and improvement year over year.
Key stakeholders for this leader are the regional and area leaders across the assigned region, including operations, commercial, HR, and other functions. This role will supervise and manage the Area L&D leaders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders regarding all learning needs that support the Corrugated business strategy.
  • Partners with division leads to manage and implement learning initiatives, including experiential learning opportunities to build practical, on-the-job skills by identifying key sponsors, developing project plans, and collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Lead and develop a team of Area L& D Managers across multiple states to ensure the delivery of consistent, high-impact training programs that align with organizational goals and drive measurable performance improvement.
  • Partner with business and HR leaders to strengthen development and support learning across the business.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual learning experiences, ensuring skill and/or knowledge acquisition toward intended business results as needed.
  • Support the development and implementation of training, including the development of site technical training owners and Area L&D Leaders, to continuously improve our training systems locally.
  • Utilize approved learning systems to assign, track, deploy, and report on training across the division.
  • Improve performance and efficiency through effective training solutions that eliminate skill gaps.

Technical Skills:
  • Instructional Design Tools: Experience with e-learning authoring tools.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, learning strategies, and HR best practices a plus.
  • High-level competency in Microsoft applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Learning & Development experience is a plus (e.g., ADDIE design, L&D technology/design tools, facilitation, on-the-job training, implementation, and measurement of L&D systems, frameworks, and processes).
  • Ability to enhance learning solutions through design support and effective use of learning technologies.

Other Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of training or learning experience; experience with large learning teams preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, paper, and/or packaging industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of learning initiatives; staying current on best practices and offerings, as well as business drivers associated with development needs.
  • Proficiency in managing timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communications.
  • Naturally collaborative with others, having worked in a matrixed organization to achieve organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems.
  • Strong ability to influence and use effective communication.
  • Availability to travel as needed (approximately 50%).

The salary range for this position is $134,250.00 - $223,750.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
