What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Virtual Lawyer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Virtual Lawyer, you need a law degree, bar admission, strong legal research capabilities, and expertise in your area of practice. Familiarity with digital legal research platforms, secure document management systems, and virtual meeting tools is typically required. Excellent written communication, client management, and time management skills help you stand out in a remote environment. These skills and tools are crucial for delivering effective, compliant legal services in a digital-first setting.

How do virtual law professionals typically collaborate with clients and colleagues in a remote setting?

Virtual law professionals rely heavily on digital communication tools such as secure email, video conferencing, and cloud-based document sharing to interact with clients and colleagues. Effective collaboration requires strong organizational skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex legal information remotely. Regular virtual meetings, project management platforms, and secure client portals are commonly used to ensure seamless teamwork and maintain confidentiality. Adapting to a fully remote environment can be challenging initially, but it also offers flexibility and the opportunity to work with clients and teams across different regions.

What is a Virtual Law professional?

A Virtual Law professional is a legal expert who provides legal services remotely using digital technology, rather than working in a traditional law office. They may offer consultations, draft legal documents, and represent clients via video calls, email, or secure online platforms. This approach offers clients greater flexibility, convenience, and often reduced costs compared to traditional legal services.

Job description

Description
You Don't Have To Do It Alone Anymore
Live the life you want. (Seriously.)
We'll hand you the clients. You help them create their future.
We're a 100% virtual law firm operating out of New York, Massachusetts, and now New Jersey. Our caseload is large and alive. We'll hand you cases like gifts from the legal gods. You won't have to find them yourself. That's not your job. Your job is being a lawyer. Remember that? You will get to use our paralegals, support staff, and cutting-edge technology, and we bear 100% of the collections risk on your cases. You get paid, like clockwork, every week.
What You'll Actually Do
You'll make court appearances, attend conferences, draft motions, and argue about property division and parenting schedules with grace. You'll negotiate settlements and help people part ways with dignity.
You'll be Of Counsel, meaning you're one of us, but also free. You'll have a team. Support staff. Fellow lawyers. Actual systems. You'll do real lawyering without all the nonsense.

  • You move cases forward without someone holding your hand.
  • You've been doing this for 8+ years.
  • You know divorce law like the back of your hand.

Responsibilities
• Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action
• Handle the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings as needed
• Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process
• Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date
• Represent clients in court proceedings as needed
Qualifications
• Able to appear in court in Plymouth, Bristol, and Hampden counties on behalf of clients
• A successful candidate will have handled divorce law, focusing on matrimonial issues, for 1-2 years
• Experience in the division of assets, both real estate and financial, is essential
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations
• Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants
• Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred
• 4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position
