What does a virtual instructional coach do?

As a virtual instructional coach, you meet with teachers and administrators via video conference or online, offering them support and helping them develop more effective instructional strategies. You may help them integrate new technologies into their lesson plans, develop multi-disciplinary programs that drive learning, and help students succeed through effective classroom management. You provide critical feedback on teaching approaches and styles, as well as action plans teachers can use to improve the classroom environment, improve student test scores, and successfully implement required state and federal standards. ●      Ensuring that student achievement and growth data is routinely collected, analyzed, and used to drive instructional decisions at both the classroom and school levels.

Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration

●      Collaborate with building principals and the Chief Academic Officer to align coaching priorities with school and district academic goals.

●      Model a culture of continuous learning and serve as a thought leader for student literacy improvement across assigned schools.

●      Build, establish, and maintain productive relationships with teachers, instructional coaches, building administrators, and district leadership.

●      Assist school administrators and teachers in developing and refining school-wide reading plans, including strategies for monitoring implementation fidelity and student outcomes.

●      Support the alignment of assessment practices and instructional materials with district adopted curricula and the Science of Reading.

Ongoing Professional Growth

●      Participate in Pike Township Curriculum and Instruction Team (CIT) professional learning as aligned with district-wide literacy priorities.

●      Pursue and maintain any required endorsements, certifications, or credentials as directed by IDOE and district leadership.

Compliance & District Alignment

●      Perform all duties in full compliance with IDOE requirements, MSD of Pike Township Board of Trustees policies, and applicable federal program guidelines.

●      Coordinate with the district's federal programs office to ensure alignment with Title I, Title II, and related compliance obligations as applicable.

●      Adhere to all confidentiality requirements related to student data and educator evaluations.
