Job Description:

The work of an admissions counselor assures that enrollment goals are met. Admissions counselors participate as active members of the recruitment team, where they identify, recruit, and enroll prospective students.

Essential Job Functions:

30 % A. Recruitment/Outreach and Relationship Building

  • Counsel prospective students and other individuals from inquiry through matriculation through in-person conversations, virtual events, phone, web-based platforms, email, and texts
  • participate in on-campus, off-campus, and virtual admissions events
  • manage a multi-state recruitment territory consisting of visits to high schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations to conduct presentations and meet with prospective students, attend college fairs and other recruitment events
  • build relationships with high school college counselors, community-based organizations, and other college-going influencers;
  • collaborate with other campus departments, including financial aid, academic advising, and student affairs, and engage with alumni and community partners to identify potential applicants.

25 % B. Application Review and Counseling

  • Review applications and make admission decisions based on established criteria;
  • participate on the Admissions Committee to recruitand enroll a well-prepared class of a desired size;
  • provide personalized counseling to prospective students and their families regarding the admissions process, academic programs, financial aid, and campus life, and answer inquiries about admissions requirements and application deadlines.

20 % C. Campus Visits, Information Sessions, and Events

  • Lead information sessions to highlight academic programs, student organizations, campus culture;
  • Plan, implement, and support campus visit programs for prospective students their families.

15 % D. Data Management and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and application data within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, SLATE;
  • Track recruitment progress, and generate reports on key metrics.

Education

Required: Bachelor' Degree

Professional Experience:

Required: Familiarity with the admissions process

Preferred: Previous experience serving as an admissions counselor. Proficient bilingual (Spanish) oral and written communication skills.
