Job Title: Project Accountant

Position Overview:
JRG Partners is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support a prominent construction client. Reporting to the CFO, the Project Accountant will play a vital role in overseeing the financial operations of all projects. This includes managing cash flow, accounts payable, contract billings, and comprehensive job cost reporting. The role requires a proactive approach to financial management, exceptional organizational skills, and a deep understanding of project accounting within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
  • System Transition & Maintenance: Lead a transition from CFA Data System to Viewpoint Spectrum, establishing an efficient and integrated accounting system. Maintain project and general ledger accounting in Viewpoint Spectrum once implemented.
  • Accounting Consolidation: Assist with consolidating outside divisions into a centralized accounting process, ensuring seamless financial operations across the organization.
  • Contract & Financial Record Management: Manage project-related records, including contracts and change orders. Prepare and analyze financial reports, delivering actionable insights to enhance project performance.
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Invoices: Review and approve project-related invoices from vendors and subcontractors, ensuring accurate cost coding and adherence to budgets.
  • Compliance Management: Oversee subcontractor compliance in line with contract specifications, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Variance & Discrepancy Investigation: Investigate variances and discrepancies related to contract billings, budget-to-actual comparisons, time approval, and unbilled project costs.
  • Project Closure: Perform closeout procedures for project accounts upon completion, ensuring all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination: Act as a liaison between the Project Management and Accounting teams, facilitating the sharing of information and ensuring efficient communication.
  • ERP Implementation Support: Assist in the implementation of ERP automation tools and cross-platform integrations to enhance financial processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Executive Reporting: Compile data for the CFO, President, and Board, providing timely reports as requested.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Construction Management, or Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in project accounting, with a strong understanding of project contracts and change order documents.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Viewpoint Spectrum software is required. Experience with systems implementation and ERP tools is a significant advantage.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication and writing skills, strong analytical abilities, and a meticulous approach to detail in project accounting.
