Job description

CBIZ Talent Solutions is assisting our construction client seeking an onsite Project Accountant with AIA Billing experience to support the financial management of commercial projects from project setup through closeout. This role partners closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and Leadership to ensure accurate job costing, billing, forecasting, compliance, and project profitability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage job costing, budget tracking, committed cost reconciliations, and cost-to-complete forecasting.
  • Prepare and process AIA billings, change orders, retainage calculations, and other project-related invoicing.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, payment status, and collections.
  • Review contracts, subcontracts, vendor invoices, pay applications, lien waivers, and insurance documentation.
  • Track and maintain project financial data, including labor allocation, certified payroll, and WIP reporting.
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for project teams and leadership.
  • Maintain project accounting records in Vista/Viewpoint, including job setup, cost codes, purchase orders, subcontracts, and AP/AR workflows.
  • Support project closeouts, including final billings, retainage collection, reconciliations, and financial summaries.
  • Collaborate with operations and project teams to improve processes, documentation, and financial accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of project accounting experience within construction, roofing, or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, AIA billing, WIP reporting, retainage, change orders, and project forecasting.
  • Experience with Vista/Viewpoint and construction management platforms such as Procore, Textura, or GCPay.
  • Understanding of certified payroll, prevailing wage requirements, and construction contract administration.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong financial reporting capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.


Compensation range is between $65-$80K annually plus benefits.
