Job Summary

The VP, Market Research is responsible for researching, analyzing and providing recommendations on the overall market fundamentals driving the multi-family markets for asset management and investment opportunities.

How you will contribute to our team:

  • Leverages AI to operate and maintain Waterton’s proprietary research platform, adhering to Waterton’s policy for Artificial Intelligence Acceptable Use.
  • Works with the investment management team to provide information on trend forecasts for real estate performance.
  • Responsible for the analysis of research data and communicating a strategy to the leadership team and investors.
  • Works with senior leadership/investment committee and investment management team on interpreting data, identifying relevant trends, and developing appropriate and unique investment and capital allocation strategies.
  • Leads the effort to create and maintain Waterton’s real estate fundamentals database, and proprietary Market Scorecards.
  • Partners with Investor Relations, interacting and communicating with investors to articulate and provide credible reporting and support for Waterton’s investment strategies and market and economic outlook.
  • Partners with Operations and Portfolio Management on rental growth forecasts; capital allocation decisions; market supply and demand statistics; and asset and market write-ups.
  • Responsible for written product: whitepapers (sector and relevant topics), quarterly reports, sector and market updates, and comprehensive asset/investment market and submarket information and supporting data tables for investment memorandums and business plans.
  • Participates in various research panels at industry events.

What You’ll Bring- Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance or related field; MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience; 15 years of experience preferred
  • Advanced skillset with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, strong attention to detail 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong presentation skills

The typical base salary hiring range for this role is $185,000.00-$225,000.00 per year, plus bonus program participation. 

The pay range is a base pay only and does not include any additional compensation or bonuses that this position may be eligible for. The pay range is approximate, and the actual pay may vary depending on related work experience, certifications, education, and other job-related factors.
