Job description

Provides strategic and operational leadership in the planning, development, direction, and evaluation of programs and methodologies that integrate spiritual care and spirituality into clinical caregiving and the broader work environment. Partners with the Senior Vice President, Mission to advance the integration of Mercy's mission and values throughout organizational structures and daily operations across the health system. Ensures all responsibilities are carried out in alignment with Mercy's mission and values. Provides strategic direction, leadership, and accountability for Spiritual Care services, while advancing key mission priorities as assigned by Senior Vice President, Mission, including leadership formation and other mission-driven initiatives. Collaborates closely with, and holds accountable, Spiritual Care leaders across the ministry to ensure alignment, effectiveness, and excellence in service delivery. Provides strategic and operational oversight of Mercy's Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program.
Reports directly to Senior Vice President, Mission.
Position Details:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate level degree in theology, divinity, or ministry with an emphasis in spirituality and/or organizational development (Catholic theology preferred)
Preferred Certification: Board Certified chaplain preferred
Experience: Three-to-five years of healthcare spiritual care leadership (hospital-based, direct leadership of chaplains preferred); Demonstrated knowledge with ability to communicate and apply the knowledge in the following areas: Catholic theology, ecclesiology, ministry, liturgy, pertinent aspects of Canon Law, personal and organizational spirituality; Understanding of clinical and organizational ethics, and Catholic Social Teaching;
Must be willing to travel
