Job description

Position: Personnel Security Specialist
Reports To: The Customer and Project Manager
Clearance Type: Active TS (with ability to obtain SCI with CI Poly)
Work Location: Reston, VA (onsite every weekday)
Start Date: ASAP

Job Description:

Advantage SCI is seeking qualified Personnel Security Specialists to be considered for full-time employment to support our government customer on-site in Reston, Virginia.

Summary of Duties:

• Individuals shall Assist the Government in assessing, validating and certifying the trustworthiness of customer and designated DoD-affiliated personnel for access to sensitive compartmented information, through case management, adjudication, and due process.

• Review forms for accuracy and process security clearance documentation for personnel security investigations and clearances.

• Maintain personnel security records and databases used in the personnel security process.

• Develop recommendations with sufficient supporting rationale to enable the Government to decide whether to grant, deny, or revoke a security clearance or eligibility to occupy sensitive positions.

• Check the status of pending cases and maintain suspense logs.

• Prepare written reports and briefings as required; other duties as assigned.

 


  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with application of ICD704 and EO 12968; and SEAD 3, 6 and 7 which addresses reporting requirements, continuous vetting/evaluation, and reciprocity.
  • Knowledge of and ability to meet DNI and IRPTA timelines and skilled in prioritizing competing tasks while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
  • Familiarity and experience utilizing Scattered Castles, eQIP, JPAS, DISS, JVS, DCII, and CVS; initiating and scoping, T5R background investigations; use of DPRIS, OPM Portal; performing National Agency Checks and Credit Checks. Knowledge and experience determining when a security case is complete and prepared for adjudication to include coordinating with other officers and determining the need for additional investigative information.
  • Use judgement and experience to conduct and/or collect national agency checks to complete an investigation for adjudicative review. National agency checks may consist of, but not limited to investigations, incident reports, continuous evaluation, continuous vetting, and T5R background investigations.
  • Strong writing skills to include experience and acumen in crafting analysis of data collected
  • Experience understanding exceptions codes, such as waivers, conditions, and deviations.
  • Understand difference between suitability determinations and security clearance determinations.
  • Experience creating, managing, and closing cases in appropriate security systems of record.
  • Excellent written and oral reporting skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and customers across geographically dispersed sites.
  • Possess a TS/SCI and successfully pass CI Poly.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
