Key responsibilities

  • Research and monitor emerging technologies, industry trends, and founder ecosystems to identify high-potential investment opportunities.

  • Lead end-to-end deal execution by screening inbound deals, building financial models, and conducting market and competitive analyses.

  • Act as the first point of contact for portfolio founders, providing strategic guidance and tracking portfolio performance.

Job description

Stateless Ventures is a sector-agnostic, full-stack venture firm partnering with founders from Pre-Seed through growth. Through our funds, SPVs, and syndicates we combine capital, strategic guidance, and an extensive operator network to help startups scale and define new categories. Our hubs in San Francisco, New York, and Puerto Rico give us global reach and local depth.

What You’ll Do Deal Sourcing & Origination
  • Research and monitor emerging technologies, industry trends, and founder ecosystems across early to late-stage.
  • Leverage your Bay Area network—founders, accelerators, universities, and co-investors—to surface high-potential opportunities.
  • Run Stateless’ AngelList syndicate, echo and other syndicate platform channels.
Due Diligence & Investment Analysis
  • Lead end-to-end deal execution: screen inbound deals, build financial models (DCF, comps), conduct market sizing and competitive analyses.
  • Prepare crisp investment memos, slide decks, and presentation materials to inform internal and LP discussions.
  • Partner with legal and back-office teams to negotiate term sheets, coordinate SPV closings, and handle all documentation.
Portfolio & Community Engagement
  • Act as first point of contact for portfolio founders—provide strategic guidance, help refine business plans, and identify value-creation opportunities.
  • Track portfolio performance via KPIs and financial metrics, flagging risks and highlighting successes.
  • Represent Stateless at Bay Area conferences and meetups; host intro calls and events to deepen community ties.
Communications & Thought Leadership
  • Maintain and grow our CRM, ensuring clean deal-flow data and LP records.
  • Publish blog posts, market updates, and sector spotlights that showcase our insights and amplify our brand.
Who You Are
  • Bay Area–Based: You live in (or can reliably commute to) San Francisco/Silicon Valley and are plugged into its startup ecosystem.
  • Analytical & Financially Fluent: 2+ years at a venture fund and/or investment bank; comfortable with detailed financial modeling and valuation frameworks.
  • Tech-Curious & Founder-Focused: Passionate about emerging tech, already active as an angel investor (or planning to be), and energized by founder stories.
  • Well-Connected: You bring an existing rolodex of founders, service-providers, and co-investors across Seed to Growth stages.
  • Excellent Communicator: Strong written/verbal skills, with an eye for crafting compelling narratives and clear, concise presentations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Highly preferred but not required).
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in venture capital, investment banking, or growth-stage tech investing.
  • Proven track record of sourcing or closing deals, running diligence, and building financial analyses.
  • Deep familiarity with the Bay Area startup landscape and key players.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Take-Home Assignment

Please submit a single PDF (≤ 3 pages) within five business days to jobs@stateless.vc, covering:

  • Deal Memo (1–2 pages): Choose an early-stage Bay Area startup. Startup must be in AI or crypto AI. Outline problem, solution, market size, business model, competitors, key terms, risks, and your investment thesis.
  • Sourcing: Describe how you learned about the deal. Through a friend, network, twitter etc.
  • Syndicate Plan (½ page): Describe how you’d run a $500K AngelList syndicate for this deal—target LP profiles, timeline, and communication cadence.
  • Trend Brief (½ page): Write a 200-word blog post on an under-covered VC trend, including one chart or infographic illustrating your point.

We look forward to assessing your analytical rigor, deal-sourcing creativity, and storytelling prowess.
