Job description

The vendor behind the counter positions encompasses transporting checked baggage to specified areas of the airport, lifting checked baggage on and off carts, containers, and conveyances. Transport checked baggage from designated x-ray/screening devices or hand search areas to the baggage conveyor belts. Load baggage as needed into tubs on a baggage conveyor belt. Transport oversize baggage and/or live animals from the baggage check-in area to the baggage room. Ensure and maintain a supply of baggage tubs for the conveyor belts at all times. This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with time constraints to meet arrival and departure goals. A professional and positive image must be consistently displayed by the employee.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk continuously for 8 - 10 hours without sitting for long periods of time, use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; converse and hear. Must be able to work in tight places. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. and push luggage carts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess good communication skills and a friendly, outgoing personality.
  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Ability to read, fluently speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be free of disqualifying crimes,
  • Able to pass a pre-employment and random drug test.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk continuously for 8 - 10 hours without sitting for long periods of time.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to work weekends, holidays, and days off
