Job description

Operations and Maintenance Technician
Pay Range: $25-$35/hr
Reports To: Director of Pre-Construction
Travel: Up to 75% (company-paid lodging, transportation, and per diem)

Position Summary
The O&M Technician supports operational maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of installed solar and electrical systems. This includes routine inspections, system diagnostics, minor repairs, replacement of components, and maintenance tasks for rooftop or ground-mount solar arrays and associated electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform regular inspections of solar arrays - mechanical mounts, modules, grounding, wiring, conduit, inverters, disconnects, etc.
  • Troubleshoot issues, perform repairs or coordinate with electricians when needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance: tighten torqueed bolts, check grounding, clean modules/arrays (if necessary), inspect wiring/conduit, check inverters and string performance.
  • Document maintenance work, complete logs, track parts/inventory, and coordinate materials for replacements.
  • Support warranty repairs, customer punch items, and site visits.
  • Assist with safety inspections, ensure adherence to company safety standards, and use required PPE.
  • Perform site clean-up, housekeeping, and maintain professional appearance and customer service when on-site.

Required / Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years electrical or solar installation/maintenance experience (commercial or utility-scale preferred)
  • Comfortable working on rooftops or elevated platforms, lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders or using lifts, working outdoors in variable weather
  • Basic knowledge of solar electrical and mechanical systems - modules, inverters, wiring, grounding, torque practices, safety, etc.
  • Good troubleshooting ability, attention to detail, reliability, and good communication skills

Preferred:
  • OSHA 10
  • Basic electrical certification or training
  • PV system diagnostic experience
  • tool familiarity (testing equipment, torque tools, multimeters, etc.)
