Job description

The Honors Program Coordinator supports the operations, administration, and student engagement initiatives of the Honors Program. Under the leadership of the Director of the Honors Program, the Coordinator assists with program implementation, student advising and leadership development, events, communications, records management, and assessment activities that contribute to student success and program effectiveness. The Coordinator will normally work a set schedule but must have availability to work occasional evenings and weekends, with advance notice, as required by program activities and events.
Position Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $48,000 - $52,000. This is the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.
Responsibilities
  • Supports the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of Honors Program initiatives, events, and activities, both on and off campus, including the annual Partners in Peace initiative, intercultural lectures, research conferences, service-learning programs, and other student engagement functions.
  • Assists with planning and execution of Honors Program events and logistics (contracts, catering, AV, materials, etc.), including retreats, conferences, orientation activities, graduate recognition events, and student travel experiences.
  • Helps prepare students for conference expectations through pre-departure preparation sessions and related guidance.
  • Develops and maintains Honors Program communications and promotional materials, including webpages, newsletters, social media, digital communications, and event materials.
  • Maintains Honors Program records and student data, including application processing, student designation tracking, distinction path progress, program alumni information, and related records in systems such as Slate, Ellucian Colleague, Blackboard, Qualtrics, and other university applications.
  • Processes Honors Program applications and options, service tickets, faculty stipends, reimbursements, scholarship materials, and program documentation.
  • Assists the Director and Associate Director with student advising and communications regarding academic requirements, enrichment opportunities, leadership development, and program participation.
  • Serves as staff advisor for the Honors Program student organization, providing guidance and support to student leaders and coordinating leadership development opportunities.
  • Coordinates aspects of the Honors Peer Leader Program, including recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing support of peer leaders.
  • Collaborates with Housing and Residence Life and the Honors Program Resident Advisor to support the Honors Living Learning Community (HLLC), including student placements, community-building efforts, and coordination with housing staff.
  • Meets regularly with the Honors Program Resident Advisor to strengthen relationships within the HLLC, develop and implement appropriate programming, and coordinate initiatives with the broader Honors Program. Coordinates service-learning and community engagement activities for Honors Program students.
  • Assists with Honors Program recruitment and represents the program at Admission and new student orientation events.
  • Supports conference and travel logistics for students and staff, including registration, transportation, lodging, schedules, travel documents, and communications.
  • Maintains Honors Program assessment tools and surveys; collects, analyzes, and disseminates data related to program effectiveness, student outcomes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepares reports, meeting materials, agendas, minutes, and other administrative documents.
  • Recruits, trains, and supervises student employees.
  • Interfaces with departments and external partners to support Honors Program operations, student services, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Maintains Honors Program spaces, supplies, and organizational materials.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience in higher education, student services, or related academic programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and detailed processes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and campus community.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as assigned.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using database, survey, and student information systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Familiarity with honors programs or honors colleges in higher education.
  • Experience with student engagement programming, event coordination, and academic advising.
  • Experience with systems such as Slate, Colleague, Blackboard, Qualtrics, Canva, or similar applications.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
The essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
