Unit Assistant/ Nephrology (Full Time)

Location: 1326 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA
SouthCoast Health is looking for a Full-time Unit Assistant for our Nephrology Department
Provides clerical support to the nursing staff and physician. Provides excellent customer service to patients .
Responsibilities:
- Handle administrative duties such as answering phones, making copies, scheduling appointments, making referrals, verify insurance, and maintaining supplies for work area.
- Communicates with the clinical staff to ensure all appropriate patient information is gathered.
- Setup and process all patient referrals/pre-certs and required follow through. Maintains and keeps updated reports.
- Communicates with pharmacy per clinical staff and provider's order.
- Obtains discharge summaries from the hospital and other facilities as needed for coordination of care.
- Report to work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Performs or assists with non-clinical duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications :
- Ability to exercise professionalism in dealing with all levels of personnel, patients and patients' families.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Ability to deal with more than one task at a time.
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of customer service skills and telephone etiquette.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Education/ Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of six months work experience in Physician's back office. Familiar with medical terminology obtained through work environment or attended class at technical school. Computer experience.
May require travel to our satellite Nephrology locations, when needed.
Certified Medical Assistant experience is a plus, not required.
