Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Associate Director of Student Union Operations. - Boca Raton, FL.

The Associate Director of Operations shall be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Student Union's facilities, operations, and services. Serves as the secondary administrative liaison with users of the facilities from an operations perspective, including academic and administrative departments, student organizations, and external community customers. Responsible for the development and implementation of facility policies and procedures and for interpreting administrative policy for users of the facilities. Maintain a thorough knowledge of state and university policies and regulations as they relate to facilities management, purchasing, contract negotiations, and personnel management.

The Student Union area is a working unit of the Division of Student Affairs at Florida Atlantic University.

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates student managers and student staff necessary to carry out the mission of the unit. Provide oversight and supervision for the professional and student staff who provide general Student Union operational services.

  • Provides technical assistance for events and programs within the Student Union and the eSports Arena and Gaming Center.

  • Assists with major events.

  • Develop and administer an annual facility maintenance and repair schedule for all Student Union facilities.

  • Directs the administration of room set-ups and takedowns (temporary stages, tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment, etc.) of all event-related equipment.

  • Oversees Facility Maintenance and Custodial teams, ensuring the Student Union footprint is well-maintained and clean.

  • Organizes requests for the purchase of necessary equipment in event facilities.

  • Develop and implement budgets and spending plans for these units.

  • Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate the success of professional and student staff.

  • Develop and implement outcomes and assessment measures, goals, and objectives.

  • Maintains emergency procedure manuals, including emergency weather response plans.

  • Coordinates all emergency training for student and professional staff, including fire extinguisher training, stop the bleed training, crowd management training, etc.

  • Oversees the Coordinator of Student Union Programs to create and execute a program plan for the Student Union.

  • Serve as the Primary contact for the FAU University Facilities Services, Physical Plant, Campus Planning, and Ground Services for the coordination of the services.

  • Develop an inventory tracking method of total facilities furniture and other capital items for replacement planning efforts.

  • Develop an annual report on the operations of the facilities, including statistical analysis of the flow and space usage.

  • Serve as operational liaison for all occupants of the Student Union, including food services, retail operations, and university departments/student organizations with offices in the facility

  • Work in collaboration with Student Affairs departments as required.

  • Stay current on trends for all units supervised.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience required.
Ability to function independently and professionally in the assigned area.

Salary:

$80,000 - $85,000 annually.
