Position Summary
This is a twelve-month renewable position contingent upon grant funding
Full-time positions at Clovis Community College are not remote positions and require a physical presence on campus to fulfill duties and college-related responsibilities.
Under the general direction of the TRIO SSS Project Director, the TRIO Student Support Services Academic Services Coordinator will design/implement academic advisement and student support services to participants in the TRIO Student Support Services Program.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Academic Services Coordinator by planning and coordinating programmatic aspects of TRIO Student Support Services throughout the academic year, and through the development and implementation of activities to support the persistence and success of TRIO SSS participants.
  • Devise and implement strategies for intervention to help TRIO SSS participants overcome barriers, provide academic advisement, retention and transfer services, cultural activities, and career guidance for low income, first generation, or disabled TRIO SSS Participants.
  • Monitor TRIO SSS Participants progress; address TRIO SSS Participant needs through various educational methods including making community service/resource referrals, as necessary.
  • Assist in development of the Department of Education Annual Performance Report. Maintain accurate data for project records.
  • Update TRIO SSS Participant records to reflect updated academic and career objectives.
  • Analyze data; prepare and submit reports as needed by the Project Director.
  • Assist in evaluating and improving program services; share responsibility for successful implementation of all aspects of program.
  • Plan/conduct 4-year campus visits and academic enrichment events.
  • Collaborate with others including TRIO SSS and CCC campus staff to ensure effective project implementation. Maintain good rapport with students and Clovis Community College personnel.
  • Participation in committees, councils and professional development activities as assigned.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires frequent and continuous sitting/moving about, continuous use of fine motor skills, and pushing and pulling of up to 20 lbs.
SCHEDULE DETAILS:
Must be available to work 40 hrs. per week with normal work hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, or related field
  • Minimum one year's experience in SSS or a similar student services project
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of educationally or economically disadvantaged students

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two years of experience in advising, financial aid, or career counseling and a community college
  • Background similar to that of SSS-eligible participants
  • Fluency in Spanish
