Associate Editor, Conde Nast Traveler

Working out of the New York office, the Associate Editor will play a key role in producing editorial across platforms, with a particular focus on the print magazine and annual franchises such as the Hot List and Gold List. The position will also provide critical support for one-off special projects and for CNT's general cruise and hotel coverage across, print, digital, and social. The Associate Editor reports to the brand's Global Features Director.

Primary responsibilities

  • Pitch, edit, and manage specific rubrics and story types in the print magazine's front of book, including trend pieces and Q+As

  • Write or edit 2-3 digital stories per week

  • Support top editors on larger features and story production

  • Co-lead major packages as needed throughout the year

  • Manage organizational documents and support the process of building out tentpole moments like the Gold List and Hot List

  • Support key editorial franchises including management of our specialists as well as specialist-centered events

  • Support editors across CNT's seven markets (the US, the UK, Spain, Italy, the Middle East, India, and China) on building and executing global editorial moments

  • Build and maintain relationships throughout the industry, including with leading hospitality brands and PR firms, to stay up to date on news

  • Attend industry events and conferences to gather intel and represent the brand

  • Produce social and video storytelling as needed

  • Develop relationships with writers and contributors as supports the need of the brand

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of four years experience working on print and digital media. A travel, style, or pop culture background is preferred but not essential

  • Excellent reporting, editing and researching skills

  • Knowledge of content management systems and other digital tools

  • Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Creative approach to storytelling across media platforms

  • Pro-actively collaborative with local and international teams essential

  • A love of travel and curiosity about the travel industry

The expected base salary range for this position is from $68,500-$82,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
