Job description

This is a full-time independent contractor (1099) position. As a contractor, the individual selected for this role will not be eligible for company-sponsored employee benefits.

Responsibilities:

Margaritaville at Sea is seeking a highly creative and driven Videographer/Editor to bring our brand to life through compelling travel and lifestyle content. This hands-on role is ideal for a visual storyteller who thrives on capturing unforgettable moments, crafting engaging narratives, and producing high-quality content that resonates across YouTube, social media, and digital platforms. The ideal candidate will travel alongside our team to document onboard experiences, destination highlights, special events, and behind-the-scenes moments, transforming raw footage into inspiring stories that drive audience engagement and encourage travelers to book their next cruise vacation. This is a full-time independent contractor (1099) position that requires frequent domestic and international travel, often working in dynamic and fast-paced environments. Essential Functions: 

  • Long-Form Video Editing: Edit engaging long-form content for YouTube, taking projects from concept and story development through final delivery. Craft compelling narratives that balance entertainment, information, and brand messaging while maintaining viewer engagement. 

  • Short-Form Content Creation: Develop high-performing short-form videos for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts. Repurpose content creatively and tailor edits to platform-specific trends, audience preferences, and best practices. 

  • Storytelling & Interviews: Capture interviews, lifestyle footage, b-roll, guest experiences, and behind-the-scenes moments that bring destinations and onboard experiences to life. Use strong visual storytelling techniques to create emotional connections with audiences. 

  • Media Management: Maintain an organized workflow by managing footage, project files, media libraries, and backups. Ensure all assets are properly cataloged, secured, and accessible throughout the production process. 

  • Brand Consistency & Creativity: Ensure all content aligns with established brand standards, voice, and visual identity while consistently introducing fresh ideas, creative concepts, and innovative storytelling approaches that elevate the brand. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with social media, content, marketing, and creative teams to develop content strategies, plan shoots, and execute campaigns that support business and brand objectives. 

  • Trend Awareness & Innovation: Stay current with emerging social media, YouTube, and digital content trends. Continuously identify new opportunities, formats, and creative approaches that help maximize content performance, engagement, and reach. 

  • Production Planning & Execution: Support all phases of content production, including pre-production planning, shot list development, scheduling, and on-location execution. Adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities while maintaining high production standards and meeting deadlines. 

Qualifications: 

Experience: 

  • 5+ years of professional videography and video editing experience, preferably in travel, lifestyle, hospitality, tourism, or branded content environments. 

  • Strong portfolio of work showcasing travel, lifestyle, documentary, YouTube, or social-first content with demonstrated storytelling ability. 

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, including editing, audio mixing, color correction, and content delivery across multiple platforms. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Lightroom for motion graphics, asset creation, and photo editing. 

  • Experience operating professional mirrorless and cinema camera systems, with the ability to capture high-quality footage in a variety of environments. 

  • Strong understanding of videography fundamentals, including lighting, composition, audio capture, color grading, and visual storytelling. 

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments while consistently meeting deadlines. 

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with experience managing media libraries, project files, and production workflows. 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with marketing, social media, and creative teams. 

  • Valid passport required and ability to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods as business needs dictate. 

  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel days when necessary. 

  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport professional camera and production equipment throughout airports, ships, destinations, and event venues. 

  • Must own and maintain professional-grade video production equipment, including cameras, lenses, stabilization tools, audio equipment, and related accessories suitable for commercial content creation and frequent travel. 

  • Passion for travel, content creation, and emerging social media trends, with a strong understanding of what drives engagement across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and other digital platforms. 

Physical Demands: This role requires the ability to lift and carry professional video production equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, and remain mobile for extended periods while capturing content. Candidates must be comfortable working onboard cruise ships, at destinations, and in dry dock environments, 

Travel: This position requires significant travel, with approximately 25%–50% of time spent traveling domestically and internationally. Travel will include shipboard visits, destination and port calls, special events, content capture assignments, and participation in ship dry dock projects. Candidates must be comfortable spending extended periods onboard cruise ships and traveling on a flexible schedule as business needs dictate. A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally are required. 

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. 

This position is based in Orlando, Florida and is classified as an in-office role. When not traveling, the expectation is that the employee will work from the Margaritaville at Sea office in Orlando on a regular basis and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams. Given the in-office nature of the role, candidates must currently reside in the Orlando area or be willing to relocate. This position may also require occasional evening and weekend work to support content production schedules, events, and business needs.
