US Lifestyle Editor
Location: New York City
Salary: $105,000-$115,000 DOE
About the Role
The Daily Mail is seeking a US Lifestyle Editor to lead our Lifestyle coverage from our New York City office. This role is ideal for a sharp, highly organized editor with exceptional news judgment and a strong understanding of what drives audience engagement across lifestyle topics.
As US Lifestyle Editor, you will oversee our Lifestyle vertical, spanning fashion, beauty, celebrities, health & wellness, relationships, food & drink, travel, homes, shopping, and modern living. You will be responsible for shaping daily coverage, managing a team of writers, and ensuring our lifestyle journalism is fast, authoritative, distinctive, and highly clickable. The role will report to the US Associate Editor of Lifestyle and Showbiz.
Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the US Lifestyle vertical, setting the editorial agenda and tone across all lifestyle coverage.
  • Commission, assign, and edit daily lifestyle news, features, and trend-driven stories across fashion, beauty, health, relationships, food, travel, homes, and shopping.
  • Oversee lifestyle features, investigations, and exclusives for the Daily Mail's Mail+ subscription section.
  • Manage a team of staff writers, providing clear
  • Identify emerging trends, viral moments, and cultural conversations, turning them into compelling, timely stories.
  • Ensure all content meets Daily Mail standards for accuracy, voice, legal compliance, and editorial integrity.
  • Work closely with SEO, social, commerce, and audience teams to maximize reach, engagement, and revenue opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other desks, including Showbiz and News, on cross-vertical stories where lifestyle and other sections intersect.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with PRs, brands, experts, and industry contacts.
  • Play a key role in long-term editorial planning, including seasonal coverage, major cultural moments, and award shows.
  • Help lead lifestyle-driven coverage of major awards shows, including red carpet analysis.

Person Specification
  • 5+ years of experience in lifestyle journalism, including at least 4 years in a senior editing role.
  • Deep understanding of the lifestyle landscape and what resonates with US audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, high-output digital newsroom.
  • Exceptional editing skills, with the ability to sharpen copy quickly while maintaining voice and accuracy.
  • Experience managing staff writers.
  • Strong SEO instincts and a clear understanding of digital audience behavior.
  • Comfort working with commerce-driven content while maintaining editorial independence.
  • Strong legal awareness and editorial judgment.
