Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Technical Writer / Technical Editor. This position is located in Roy, Utah and supports the Sentinel program.

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Write, rewrite and/or edit test plans and procedures utilized by the test team for test execution

  • Engage in working groups to support team goals, with responsibilities for technical writing tasks and maintaining related processes

  • Provide technical reviews of supplier SDRLs and write and deliver CDRLs in accordance with applicable DIDs

  • Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, and engineering documentation

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 Years of experience with a Bachelors degree; 0 Years with a Masters. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

  • Strong PC skills and proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and advanced publishing tools (Adobe FrameMaker, Acrobat, Illustrator)

  • Familiarity with Life Cycle Databases (CPLM, DOORS, CAMEO)

  • Experience interpreting SDRLs, CDRLs, DIDs

  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical documentation that complies with DoD standards and complex engineering requirements

  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certified and/or FCC Licensed with General Aviation experience (Radios/Communications)
  • Experience with USAF Flight Manual and/or Maintenance Manuals
  • 3+ years' experience writing S1000D XML or Mil-STD-38784 SGML
  • Familiarization of Industry standards of practice writing DOD Operator technical manuals (MIL-STD-63029) or Technical Orders (MIL-DTL-7700)

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $59,600.00 - $89,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
