SENIOR MANAGER EDITOR, DIGITAL

What you’ll do.

The Senior Managing Editor, Digital leads the strategy, innovation, and day-to-day oversight of the digital ecosystem supporting the AAN’s Publications portfolio, including the websites for the Neurology® Journals, Continuum®, and Neurology Today®. In close collaboration with Publications leadership, editorial teams, technology partners, and vendors, this role shapes digital strategy, sets standards, and drives informed decisions that enhance journal and publication websites. The position also advances digital programs spanning artificial intelligence, voice-activated, mobile, and interactive technologies, media strategies, and hosting platform initiatives. In addition, this leader oversees podcast and broadcast programming, journal videos, multimedia initiatives, social media, and the exploration of emerging technologies that expand reach and audience engagement.

What we look for.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Humanities, Science, or similar area of study

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in heavily deadline-oriented publications environment, working across multiple media platform types
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience; AAN employees may substitute requirement with 3 years leading program teams, project teams, and/or team lead experience
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the AAN’s values
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise a team in a fast-paced environment and nurture individual career development and growth
  • In-depth understanding of online/Web journal-hosting platforms (e.g. - Atypon or similar)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and various Internet browsers
  • Experience with posting multimedia and implementing artificial intelligence is preferred

Relevant education and/or experience exceeding the required qualifications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.


Travel Requirements: Some travel required – up to 10%

Location: Minneapolis, MN and is identified as primarily remote (ability to work remotely, but required to work in the office as needed or requested)

Schedule: Occasional evening and weekends required
