You are applying for a position through Medix, a staffing agency. The actual posting represents a position at one of our clients.
Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Medical Transcriptionist to handle a range of important tasks including non-EPIC medical transcription across various specialties and clearing transcription errors within the EPIC system. This role requires attention to detail and excellent transcription skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Handle non-EPIC medical transcription across all specialties (procedures, consults, H&Ps).
  • Clear transcription errors within the EPIC system.
  • Manage failed outgoing faxes by calling provider offices to get updated fax numbers and resend.
  • Perform weekly random quality checks on transcriptions and provide feedback to the vendor.

Qualifications
  • Strong medical terminology knowledge across multiple specialties (OB, L&D, Ortho, etc.).
  • Strong medical transcription experience with the ability to "fill in the blanks" for unclear transcriptions.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn software.
  • Flexibility to cover vacations/holidays.
  • Preferred: EPIC system experience.
  • Preferred: RHIA or RHIT certification.

Skills
  • Technical skills: Basic computer skills and EPIC system experience (preferred).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Additional Requirements
Flexible work schedule to cover training, potential weekends, and holidays such as Thanksgiving week.
