Job description

Fitness Growth Capital is seeking a results-driven Area Director of Personal Training to oversee the performance, growth, and leadership of multiple Personal Training departments within Southern Maryland (DMV).
This role is responsible for developing Personal Training Managers, driving revenue and profitability, improving operational execution, and ensuring every club delivers an exceptional coaching experience for members. The Area Director serves as the primary coach and business partner for each PT department, helping clubs achieve consistent performance while building future leaders within the organization.
The ideal candidate is an experienced multi-unit fitness leader who thrives on coaching teams, analyzing business performance, and creating a culture of accountability and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop Personal Training Managers across multiple locations.
  • Recruit, onboard, and mentor high-performing PT leaders and trainers.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and leadership development sessions.
  • Build succession plans and identify future leaders within the organization.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance team culture.

Business Performance
  • Drive Personal Training revenue, profitability, and membership engagement across all assigned clubs.
  • Analyze weekly and monthly business performance to identify opportunities and implement action plans.
  • Monitor key performance metrics and coach leaders to achieve departmental goals.
  • Support clubs in improving sales performance, client retention, and recurring revenue growth.
  • Ensure departments consistently meet company performance expectations.

Operational Excellence
  • Ensure consistent execution of Personal Training systems, processes, and best practices.
  • Conduct routine club visits and operational audits to evaluate service quality, sales execution, and departmental standards.
  • Partner with club leadership to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, cleanliness, safety, and member experience throughout the department.

Sales & Member Experience
  • Coach teams on consultation, sales, and client retention best practices.
  • Improve the overall member journey by ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality coaching and service.
  • Support promotional initiatives and company programs that increase Personal Training participation.
  • Ensure members receive an exceptional onboarding experience and long-term fitness support.

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with General Managers and Area Directors to support overall club performance.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Operations to successfully execute company initiatives and promotions.
  • Support new club openings, acquisitions, and special projects as needed.
  • Communicate organizational priorities and ensure consistent execution across all assigned locations.
Qualifications
  • Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Exercise Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience within the fitness industry.
  • Multi-unit management experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop leaders and build high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of sales, operations, and business performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between assigned club locations.
