Position Title: Manager in Training (MIT) - Group Fitness
Department: Group Fitness / Club Operations
Reports To: General Manager / Regional Group Fitness Leader
Position Summary
The Manager in Training (MIT) - Group Fitness is a developmental leadership role designed to prepare high-potential individuals to lead and scale the Group Fitness department within a Crunch Fitness location. This role blends operational training, leadership development, class programming, instructor management, and member experience execution.
The MIT will be trained to own the Group Fitness business, drive participation, enhance member engagement, and ensure a high-energy, best-in-class class experience that supports overall club growth, retention, and brand excellence.
Core Responsibilities
1. Group Fitness Operations & Execution
  • Learn and execute all Group Fitness SOPs to brand standard
  • Assist in building and managing the class schedule based on demand, peak times, and member trends
  • Ensure all classes start on time, are properly staffed, and deliver a high-energy experience
  • Conduct daily audits of class participation, attendance, and utilization
  • Maintain studio cleanliness, organization, and equipment readiness

2. Instructor Management & Development
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and scheduling of Group Fitness instructors
  • Assist in conducting auditions, evaluations, and performance reviews
  • Ensure instructors are delivering consistent, high-quality classes aligned with brand standards
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and development plans for instructors
  • Reinforce professionalism, energy, and member engagement expectations

3. Member Experience & Engagement
  • Ensure every class delivers a "wow" experience that drives retention and referrals
  • Engage with members before, during, and after classes to build relationships
  • Drive participation through personal invites, floor engagement, and community building
  • Handle member concerns and feedback related to Group Fitness promptly and professionally

4. Sales Integration & Business Impact
  • Understand how Group Fitness supports overall club KPIs (membership, retention, and PT)
  • Collaborate with Front Desk and Personal Training teams to drive class participation
  • Promote Group Fitness as part of the value proposition during tours and onboarding
  • Support events, challenges, and promotions that increase class attendance and engagement

5. Leadership Development (MIT Track)
  • Participate in structured MIT training covering operations, leadership, and performance management
  • Learn how to read and interpret key metrics (attendance, utilization, retention impact)
  • Assist in leading team meetings and driving accountability within the department
  • Develop the ability to manage scheduling, payroll, and staffing independently
  • Prepare to take full ownership of the Group Fitness department upon completion of training
