The Managing Director - Securities Trading is responsible for leading Berkadia's securities trading and Agency capital markets activities, including loan pricing, securities trading, market analytics, counterparty management, and execution support. The role partners closely with senior leadership to optimize profitability, execution quality, and production flow across Berkadia's Agency lending platforms. 
The Managing Director serves as a senior resource to mortgage banking, underwriting, and capital markets teams by providing market expertise, execution guidance, and analytical support while helping manage key investor, dealer, and Agency relationships.

Trading & Capital Markets Execution 

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the trading desk, including supervision of trading personnel, prioritization of workflow, and oversight of pricing, execution, reporting, and profitability management activities 
  • Lead day-to-day trading desk activities supporting Berkadia's Agency lending platforms 
  • Assist with management of pricing strategy, profitability monitoring, and execution performance across Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae transactions 
  • Monitor market conditions, MBS spreads, and investor pricing to identify execution opportunities and risks 
  • Manage relationships with broker-dealers, investors, and trading counterparties 
  • Seek out and arrange for the onboarding of new counterparties and capital sources 
  • Assist in managing counterparty exposure and concentration limits 
  • Resolve investor, dealer, and trade-related inquiries in a timely manner 
  • Utilize expertise in Agency CMBS trading, securitization, and mortgage markets to improve execution outcomes 
  • Support MBS settlement processes and resolution of trade-related operational issues 
  • Directly manage and develop vice presidents, assistant vice presidents, analysts, and other trading desk personnel 

GSE Execution Support 

  • Partner with Capital Markets and GSE leadership to support execution strategies across Agency platforms. 
  • Assist in coordinating production flow, pricing requests, and execution priorities. 
  • Monitor pricing performance and profitability trends across Agency executions. 
  • Support management of pricing guardrails and execution standards. 
  • Provide market insight and recommendations regarding product selection, execution alternatives, and competitive positioning. 
  • Maintain strong working relationships with trading, capital markets, and production personnel at Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae. 

Market Intelligence & Business Support 

  • Produce market commentary regarding interest rates, Agency spreads, and broader capital markets developments. 
  • Oversee creation and distribution of Agency Multifamily Rate Sheets. 
  • Present market updates and economic commentary to mortgage banking and underwriting teams. 
  • Assist in development and maintenance of reporting, business intelligence, and Power BI dashboards. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce risk. 
  • Assist in development and maintenance of Capital Markets policies and procedures. 
  • Mentor analysts and junior team members while supporting a collaborative team environment. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • 7+ years of experience in a similar role 
  • Strong understanding of Agency lending programs, mortgage-backed securities, and commercial real estate finance. 
  • Experience managing dealer, investor, and GSE relationships. 
  • Advanced Excel, Power BI, and Bloomberg proficiency preferred. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
