Job description

GQG is seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Trading Assistant to support the firm's trading function across a range of investment strategies and client portfolios. This role is central to the daily operating rhythm of the trading desk, partnering closely with Traders, Portfolio Managers, Operations, Compliance, and internal technology teams.

The successful candidate will develop broad exposure to global markets, portfolio trading, trade lifecycle management, cash management, broker relationships, and trading analytics. The role offers a strong foundation for professional growth within the trading organization based on performance, business needs, and demonstrated technical capability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the trading team with daily trading workflows, including pre-trade preparation, execution support, post-trade reporting, and issue escalation.
  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute accurate daily trade recap blotters for the trading desk and Portfolio Managers.
  • Monitor trading activity and portfolio data for exceptions, dispersion, allocation discrepancies, and other items requiring trader review.
  • Assist with the coordination and tracking of trade-related requests from Portfolio Managers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized records of trading activity, desk procedures, approvals, and supporting documentation.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between the trading desk and Operations to facilitate timely trade affirmation, confirmation, settlement, and resolution of exceptions.
  • Investigate and coordinate the resolution of settlement issues, trade breaks, failed trades, and allocation discrepancies.
  • Partner with Operations on new client onboarding, including account setup, trading readiness, documentation, and workflow coordination.
  • Support ongoing maintenance of account-level trading instructions and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to maintain approved broker lists, broker documentation, and broker onboarding processes.
  • Assist in preparing broker commission reports, broker activity summaries, and related management reporting.
  • Support the collection, validation, and organization of data used in Trade Cost Analysis ("TCA") reports.
  • Contribute to the continued enhancement of trading desk controls, reporting processes, data quality, and operating procedures.
  • Follow all applicable firm policies, compliance requirements, client restrictions, and internal control procedures.
