Job Summary
Our Junior Trader position is a dynamic and evolving role which supports the Portfolio Management team in the execution of its strategy as well as assist in the trading, research and operational aspects of the department. We are looking for individuals wanting to join the investment management field and develop their career.
Being a Junior Trader at PTMA requires supreme attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks with deadlines. Strong communication skills, initiative, and decision-making skills are needed to be successful in this role. This is an entry level position with the opportunity to be exposed to portfolio management and trading as you are performing your duties right at the trading desk alongside the PM team from the CIO down.
This role requires a 4-year bachelor's degree; preferably in finance, economics, or similar major as well as 1-2 years of work experience in the financial industry. Candidates currently pursuing a CFA are highly encouraged to apply. Experience with Bloomberg is helpful as is proficiency in MS Office, and advanced Excel skills. Experience with money markets or fixed income assets is highly desired.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Execute equity, ETF, repurchase agreement and cash management trades under the supervision and direction of portfolio managers.
  • Analyze equity sell discipline triggers and support other equity research as needed.
  • Implement the periodic rebalancing of model portfolios.
  • Resolve and document trade settlement issues.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative due diligence on mutual funds.
  • Assist with firmwide requests for market data and performance reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
