SCHEDULE:ย  ย ย Hybrid; 2 days on-site, 3 days remoteย 

SUMMARYย 

The Senior Grant Accountant will play a pivotal role in budgeting, accounting, and reportingย operationsย ofย contractsย andย grants.ย Theyย willย beย responsibleย forย preparingย accurateย billing and financial reporting for all contracts and grants managed by TNDC. They willย be responsible forย preparing all general ledger transactions and providing associated support for theseย entries.ย 

The position reports to the Associate Director of Accounting โ€“ Grants/Contracts.ย 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Grant and Contract Budgeting:ย 

  • Collaborateย withย programย managersย andย stakeholdersย toย developย detailed budgets for grants andย contracts.ย 

  • Support program and fund development staff working onย grant applications.ย 

  • Track budgetary guidelines and regulatoryย requirements.ย 

Grant and Contract Tracking:ย 

  • Prepareย grantย summariesย forย allย incomingย grantsย toย accuratelyย identifyย and documentย accountingย treatment.ย 

  • Track grant and contract expenses to ensureย accurateย andย timelyย recording ofย financialย transactions.ย 

  • Monitorย expensesย againstย approvedย budgetsย andย identifyย discrepanciesย or variances.ย 

Billing and Invoicing:ย 

  • Prepare andย submitย billing and invoicing documentation to funding agencies asย required.ย 

  • Follow compliance with billing guidelines and deadlines for each grantย and contract.ย 

  • Address inquiries related to billing and invoicing from funding agenciesย and internalย stakeholders.ย 

Month End Close:ย 

  • Prepare estimated and actual grant revenueย accruals.ย 

  • Prepare entries for all recipients of donations and grantย payments.ย 

  • Prepare reconciliations for all contribution relatedย accounts.ย 

Compliance and Audit:ย 

  • Supportย complianceย withย allย applicableย regulations,ย guidelines,ย and contractualย requirements.ย 

  • Supportย internalย andย externalย auditsย relatedย toย grantsย andย contracts.ย 

Process Improvement:ย 

  • Supportย implementationย ofย processย optimizationย andย efficiency enhancements in grant and contractย accounting.ย 

  • Supportย implementationย ofย bestย practicesย andย standardย operating procedures to streamline financialย processes.ย

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting orย finance.ย 

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for non-profit contracts andย grants.ย 

  • At least three years of experience in accounting functions including non-profitย experience.ย 

  • Advanced Excelย proficiencyย with strong experience using formulas for accounting reconciliation, reporting, and dataย analysis.ย 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Officeย Suite ofย applications.ย 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSย 

  • Certified Publicย Accountantย 

  • Advanced knowledge of Yardi accountingย softwareย 

  • Single auditย preparationย
