Work Location & Travel Expectations
This position requires 100% travel and project-site presence based on business needs. Candidates local to the
Port Washington, WI area are preferred. Project assignments generally last 10 to 17 months, depending on project duration and operational requirements. This role requires five 10-hour shifts per week, with overtime required.
Position Overview
The Timekeeper is responsible for accurately tracking, recording, and maintaining labor hours and workforce attendance for all personnel assigned to an industrial construction project. This role supports payroll processing, labor cost tracking, project controls, and workforce reporting by ensuring all employee and subcontractor time records are complete, accurate, and submitted in accordance with company policies and project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Collect, review, and process daily time records from supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors
- Verify employee attendance, work hours, overtime, shift assignments, and absences
- Maintain accurate labor records in project management, payroll, and timekeeping systems
- Assign labor hours to appropriate cost codes, work orders, or project phases
- Prepare and submit payroll information according to established deadlines
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly manpower reports
- Track workforce headcounts and labor utilization across project areas
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in timesheets, attendance records, and payroll data
- Coordinate with payroll, accounting, human resources, and project controls personnel
- Maintain employee onboarding and workforce documentation as required
- Ensure compliance with company policies, labor agreements, and applicable regulations
- Support audits by maintaining organized and accurate project records
- Assist project management with labor reporting, forecasting, and workforce analytics
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Administrative, payroll, accounting, or timekeeping experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience on industrial, commercial, or heavy construction projects
- Knowledge of construction payroll practices and labor cost reporting
- Experience working with union and non-union workforces
- Familiarity with timekeeping, payroll, or project management software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee information
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong numerical and data-entry accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment and meet deadlines

- The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Perform physical movements such as bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing
- Safely navigate active construction sites, including uneven, confined, or cluttered work areas
- Work at elevated heights and comply with fall protection and safety requirements
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Work in environments with exposure to noise, dust, temperature extremes, and other construction-related conditions
- Interpret technical drawings and visualize three-dimensional concepts when needed
- Maintain sufficient vision, hearing, coordination, and awareness to safely perform job duties
- Ability to work extended shifts, including up to 12 hours, in outdoor construction environments and varying weather conditions
- Maintain physical stamina and strength to perform demanding job duties throughout the workday
