About Smith Ready Mix, Inc.:
Since 1949, Smith Ready Mix, Inc. has been a leading producer of ready-mix concrete across Northern Indiana. We are committed to delivering the highest standards of quality and service in the industry. We are currently seeking dependable, safety-focused Laborer to join our team at our Valparaiso, IN location.


Key Responsibilities:
• Execute general labor tasks, including site maintenance (sweeping, shoveling, mowing) and material handling.
• Strictly adhere to all Smith Ready Mix, Inc and OSHA safety regulations, ensuring consistent use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a high standard of safety excellence in all operations.
• Complete additional operational tasks as directed by management.


Physical Requirements & Environment:
• Physical Demand: Heavy work involving frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs and occasional force up to 100 lbs. Requires significant walking, sitting, climbing, and pulling.

• Environment: Regular exposure to outdoor elements, including extreme temperatures and high-noise levels.

• Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively to maintain safety around heavy rolling equipment.


Qualifications:
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
• Valid drivers license is a must.
• Experience operating a skid steer or forklift is a plus.
• Physical ability to climb, bend, and stoop as needed for daily tasks.
• Clean driving record that meets insurability standards.
• Proficiency in reading and writing English with legible handwriting.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to workplace safety.
• Requirement: must provide own safety-approved boots.


These positions are full-time seasonal jobs with winter layoff possible. Successful applicants may be converted to permanent full-time employees upon demonstrating their skills and abilities.
