Job description

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000
Location: Washington, D.C. or remote
Senior Strategists on the Texting team lead full-scale texting programs for progressive candidates, organizations, and nonprofits. This role is for experienced text fundraising practitioners who are ready to fully own programs end-to-end - driving content strategy, leading multi-layered acquisition plans, and building the kind of client relationships that make programs great. They are deeply plugged into the political landscape, bring strong creative instincts to fundraising copy, and know how to turn performance data into smarter strategy.
This role is a part of the bargaining unit.
Why Middle Seat

  • Competitive salaries and great benefits
  • We only work for progressive organizations, candidates, and causes
  • We're a proudly unionized team - part of the Campaign Workers Guild
  • Get in on the ground floor of a growing operation

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead broadcast and P2P texting programs across assigned clients
  • Provide feedback and support to junior staff on shared accounts
  • Draft copy across all send types, including broadcast, in-house P2P, and P2P list rentals, and develop content calendars for client programs
  • Lead content brainstorms for assigned accounts; identify opportunities to capitalize on news moments and rapid response
  • Independently execute rapid response campaigns from ideation through production and delivery
  • Build multi-layered media plans for acquisition programs spanning P2P, list rentals, appends, and bought numbers; pitch and present plans to clients
  • Manage external vendors independently across all acquisition programs; hold vendors accountable to client-specific performance benchmarks
  • Develop comprehensive list growth strategies, spanning both paid and organic channels; proactively identify client-facing organic growth opportunities
  • Maintain near-flawless escrow across all assigned accounts; manage invoicing end-to-end without prompting
  • Produce client-facing spend and fundraising projections independently
  • Pull, compile, analyze, and synthesize performance metrics into client reports
  • Manage and interface with clients directly, including Members of Congress and candidates for federal office
  • Contribute to team success: develop training materials, participate in sales pitches as needed, assist in onboarding, and begin to mentor junior staff through collaboration on shared accounts
  • Oversee interns as needed
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in texting, digital fundraising, or a related field; at least 1-2 years of P2P and/or broadcast texting experience strongly preferred
  • Able to manage client projects and relationships largely without assistance
  • Strong copywriting skills; ability to write across send types and adapt to different client voices and principals; writing is consistently free of errors
  • Previous fundraising experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of ActBlue and other relevant CRMs (ActionKit, Action Network, NGP, etc.) preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in Switchboard and familiarity with other texting platforms (Scale to Win, Tatango, Amplify, etc.) preferred
  • Familiarity with AirTable and Google Sheets for reporting; comfortability with Looker Studio preferred
  • Attention to detail while managing tight deadlines and multiple content calendars
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of progressive politics

Benefits
  • 100% premium coverage for health, dental and vision
  • Zero deductible health plan
  • Wellness benefits, which include free memberships to One Medical, Health Advocate, and Talkspace
  • Profit-sharing plan: share in the growth and success of Middle Seat
  • Mobile phone or internet reimbursement up to $75 per month
  • 6% employer match on your 401k retirement account
  • 20 paid vacation days off, plus 2 floating holidays
  • Unlimited sick leave
  • Commuter benefits for public transportation
  • Coworking/Office Space Stipend for Remote Employees
  • 12 weeks of paid leave for new parents
  • $100 monthly student loan reimbursement
  • $350 monthly mental health benefit
  • $1,000 annual professional development reimbursement
