Job description

Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply is seeking a strategic, systems-oriented Maintenance Systems & Planning Manager to lead the standardization and continuous improvement of maintenance operations across our three production facilities. This role is the central architect of how maintenance is planned, executed, and optimized company-wide - building the procedures, tools, training programs, and standards that govern our production network.
This is a hands-on leadership role without direct reports. The Maintenance Systems & Planning Manager partners closely with each site's Maintenance Manager and Tech IVs, serving as their primary resource and mentor. The position requires regular travel to all production facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Standardization & PM Program Development
• Lead the standardization of maintenance practices across all three production facilities, creating consistent, repeatable processes company-wide
• Mentor site Maintenance Managers as they build out their individual preventive-maintenance programs
• Ensure alignment of all site-level PM activity with enterprise standards and best practices
• Continuously evaluate and improve maintenance procedures to reduce downtime and increase reliability
CMMS Ownership (MaintainX)
• Serve as company-wide system owner for MaintainX, Dempsey's Computerized Maintenance Management System
• Manage the vendor account-executive relationship and system licensing
• Lead full CMMS implementation at each production location
• Conduct ongoing PM and parts audits to ensure data integrity and system accuracy
• Oversee the escalated work-order process across all sites
• Establish and maintain company standards for parts creation, work-order completion, asset creation, and PM completion
Equipment Install Project Management & Reliability
• Partner with senior leadership to specify equipment and plan capital and reliability projects across all production sites
• Manage smaller install projects independently; collaborate on larger projects with the Senior Director
• Lead major reliability efforts on tunnel/RAU systems, boilers, dryer controls, and fire-suppression systems
• Track project timelines, scope, and budgets; communicate status to leadership
Vendor Relationship Management
• Serve as the primary liaison for Dempsey's maintenance vendor network
• Manage vendor correspondence for parts procurement, install planning, and repair coordination
• Handle smaller vendor projects independently; partner with senior leadership on larger engagements
• Key vendor relationships include Kannegiesser, E-Tech, Innoway, Integritec, Ecolab, Keyence, Johnson Controls, BDS, and others
Maintenance Training & Technician Development
• Drive development of structured on-the-job training materials and skills-progression programs for maintenance technicians
• Create evaluation frameworks for each technician level, establishing a clear career pathway within the trades
• Partner with leadership to build and maintain training documentation and competency assessments
• Coach and develop site Maintenance Managers to grow their teams' technical capabilities
Talent & Intern Program Management
• Manage and mentor the Maintenance & Engineering summer intern program (typically two interns per year)
• Create intern project scopes, host weekly check-ins, and keep participants on track toward deliverables
• Actively participate in the interviewing and hiring of maintenance technicians across all sites
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Facilities Management, or a closely related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
• Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CMRP, CPMM, CEM or trade licensure) a plus
Experience
• 7-10 years of progressive experience in maintenance management, plant engineering, or a related industrial discipline required
• Proven experience managing or implementing a CMMS platform (MaintainX experience a plus)
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently, from scoping through completion
• Experience coordinating with external vendors for parts procurement, repairs, and equipment installations
• Background in industrial laundry, uniform services, textile production, or similar manufacturing environments preferred
• Prior experience developing technician training programs or structured skills-progression frameworks preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs and best practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to mentor and influence without direct authority
• Ability to manage competing priorities across a multi-site, geographically dispersed organization
• Familiarity with boiler systems, tunnel washers, dryer controls, or fire-suppression systems preferred
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite; comfortable working with data and maintenance metrics
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to production facilities
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
$100,000 - $140,000 a year
