Key responsibilities

  • Own the competitive picture by tracking competitor product moves, pricing, packaging shifts, and win/loss signals, and consolidating this information into a system of record.

  • Turn research findings into actionable insights and recommendations to inform team strategies and customer interactions.

  • Prepare and deliver market intelligence updates, including weekly market digests and monthly leadership readouts, to connect market movements with strategic actions.

Job description

Fall Associate, Strategy & Market Intelligence

Office of the COO, Americas · Naperville, IL · September–December 2026 · 20 hrs/week, flexible around your class schedule · $25-30/hour

Why Haber

Process industries such as chemicals, pulp and paper, textiles, food and beverage, oil and gas, and heavy industry more broadly run some of the most resource-intensive operations on the planet, yet most still make their day-to-day calls on manual sampling, spreadsheets, and operator intuition. Haber builds the AI and IoT systems that replace that guesswork with real-time decisions, cutting operating costs while shrinking their environmental footprint at the same time.

Now we're building the Americas business, out of Naperville, IL. The accounts, the competitive map, the positioning: all of it is still being written, and most of it by a small team in the Office of the COO. That's where this role sits.

The Role

We're hiring our first dedicated market intelligence hire for the Americas. You'll own how we see the US market: who the competitors are and where our strengths lie, which accounts are worth going after and why, and what the team should walk into a customer meeting knowing. The output goes straight to the Americas commercial team and, regularly, to leadership.

This is a schedule built around your coursework, not a shadowing internship. You'll frame the question, do the work, and present the answer yourself. If you're the kind of person who reads up on where a market is moving and can't help reframing what it means from Haber's angle, who gets impatient with analysis that doesn't lead to a decision, and who wants to see your recommendation turn into a real action item, then this one's for you.

What You'll Do

Own the competitive picture. Track competitor product moves, pricing and packaging shifts, and win/loss signals from the field, and pull them into a single system of record.

Turn research into a point of view. Not "here's what we found," but "here's what it means and here's what we should do about it.

Arm the team before it walks into the room. Build account intelligence ahead of commercial conversations and turn it into a tight pre-meeting brief the team actually uses.

Keep the company sharp. A weekly market digest and a monthly readout to Americas leadership that connect what's moving in the market to what we should do next.

Leave behind something reusable. A clean, repeatable research structure the team can keep running after your twelve weeks are up.

Go where the team needs you. Early-stage GTM work rarely stays in neat lanes; you'll pick up ad hoc projects as priorities shift.

What You Have

  • A track record of researching a market or a company deeply and forming a clear view from it, whether that came from management consulting, equity or investment research, corporate strategy, or a similar analyst-style background. Currently pursuing an MBA or a master's in a quantitative field (business analytics, engineering, economics); exceptional final-year undergrads with strong quantitative coursework will be considered.
  • Sharp instincts for synthesis. You can take a messy pile of signals (pricing moves, product launches, a half-remembered comment from a customer call) and distill it into a recommendation.
  • Comfort with ambiguity. You define the approach; nobody is going to hand you a brief.
  • Excel fluency, and the judgment to know when a clean chart beats a clever model.
  • A real reason to care about industrial technology, sustainability, or B2B markets, and the ability to say what it is in a few sentences.
  • Nice to have: exposure to industrial, chemicals, or manufacturing sectors; startup or GTM experience; comfort producing clean, on-brand customer-facing material in PowerPoint or Canva.

What You'll Get

  • A seat in the Office of the COO during the year the Americas business gets built. You'll present to the people making the decisions, not to your manager's manager.
  • Scope that doesn't shrink. This is the first role of its kind here. Whatever you build becomes how Haber does market intelligence in the US.
  • A portfolio artifact. You leave with a competitive intelligence system and a set of briefs you can point to for the rest of your career.
  • A path forward. A strong twelve weeks can lead to an extension of the role and, as the team grows, a potential full-time hire.

How to Apply

Apply by August 31. Candidates are assessed on a rolling basis.
