Electrical Engineering Manager – New Product Development (Direct Hire)
Location:Near Romeoville, IL

Position Overview:

Our client, a global leader in advanced electrical products, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead new product development initiatives from concept through production. This role oversees a cross-functional engineering team, guiding them through the design, validation, and launch of innovative products that meet performance, cost, and quality targets.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record managing complex engineering projects within a structured development process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team through all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Oversee concept design, prototype builds, testing, and production release within a Stage-Gate process.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely, cost-effective completion.
  • Foster collaboration between design, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams.
  • Guide design activities to meet industry standards and internal quality, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Support the development and execution of validation and test plans (including DFMEA/PFMEA).
  • Identify and mitigate technical and project risks.
  • Partner with purchasing and external vendors to develop cost-effective, high-quality design solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in design processes, tools, and methods.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and development opportunities for engineering staff.
  • Participate in industry groups or standards committees to remain current with emerging technologies.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in electrical product design and development.
  • Proven background leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and managing complex technical projects.
  • Experience with medium or high-voltage electrical power systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, and Stage-Gate processes.
  • Familiarity with molded components, mechanical assemblies, sensors, and power system components.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.
