We are seeking a Terminal Coordinator Supervisor to oversee daily dock operations for one of our largest customers. This position serves as the primary onsite leadership representative for ITS, ensuring operational excellence, safety compliance, customer satisfaction, and team performance across multiple shifts. The Terminal Coordinator Supervisor is responsible for driving consistency in execution, coaching team members, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring all terminal operations are performed safely and efficiently.

Principal Accountabilities

The Terminal Coordinator Supervisor is responsible for leading terminal operations while serving as the primary point of contact between ITS Logistics and our customer. This role provides daily leadership to Terminal Coordinators, promotes a culture of safety and accountability, and ensures operational processes are executed consistently to meet customer expectations.

Success in this role requires a strong operational background, exceptional communication skills, the ability to lead through influence, and a proactive approach to solving challenges in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the onsite customer liaison and primary ITS representative, maintaining strong relationships with customer leadership.
  • Supervise daily dock operations to ensure efficient freight movement, operational accuracy, and exceptional customer service.
  • Lead and coach Terminal Coordinators across multiple shifts while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, customer, DOT, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety observations and enforce all established safety procedures and best practices.
  • Manage and review 5500 reports, trailer red tags, safety inspections, and required operational documentation.
  • Complete and verify daily safety checklists for each tour and ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Coordinate shift transitions by providing comprehensive daily and weekly handoff reports to ensure operational continuity.
  • Monitor terminal performance metrics, identify trends, and communicate operational opportunities to leadership.
  • Deliver timely coaching and feedback regarding service failures, safety concerns, and operational performance.
  • Conduct onsite interviews and coordinate USPS badging requirements for new employees and contractors.
  • Train new and existing employees on standard operating procedures, customer expectations, and process improvements.
  • Investigate operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and service levels.
  • Partner closely with customer personnel, drivers, dispatch, operations leadership, and support teams to resolve issues quickly.
  • Ensure accurate completion of operational paperwork and maintain data integrity across company systems.
  • Support staffing needs, scheduling, and daily workforce planning to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Travel regularly to customer locations to support operations, training, and leadership initiatives (approximately 90% travel).

Position Requirements

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in transportation, warehouse, distribution, logistics, fleet, or 3PL operations required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and coach employees toward high performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong customer and employee relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
  • Safety-focused mindset with a commitment to maintaining compliance and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Experience conducting employee coaching, performance feedback, interviews, and training preferred.
  • Working knowledge of transportation operations, dock management, trailer movements, and freight handling.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), or Yard Management Systems (YMS) is preferred.
  • Ability to walk the dock and yard for extended periods, work in varying weather conditions, and perform the physical requirements of the position.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel approximately 90% of the time.
