Interim Youth Specialist Coach (temporary position)

Santa Barbara Juvenile Hall

Community Solutions, Inc. is seeking a passionate Interim Youth Specialist Coach for a temporary assignment at the Santa Barbara Juvenile Hall.  This individual will provide in-custody based service in programs targeted to helping at-risk emerging adults to improve their behaviors and increase their success of becoming independent individuals with an effective social network for a period of 4-6 months.

Engage young adults with skills training activities twice a week. Skills training areas are directly related to the goals of the client's treatment plan, and may include behavior management skills, communication skills, coping skills, problem solving, educational, or vocational skills.

  • Engage clients in recreational activities each week.
  • Conduct role plays and practice new skills with clients.
  • Deliver incentives to reinforce clients for positive behavior and new skills learned
  • Focus and build on clients' positive attributes
  • Engage the available social networks in supporting clients
  • Follow directives by the Custody Supervisor
  • Provide documentation of each visit with clients
  • Provide weekly oral and/or written reports on activities completed with clients
  • Participate in supervision with Supervisor
  • Attend all required trainings per agency and model requirements
  • Participate in all meetings as required by the program
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures

Schedule: Monday - Friday - 1st shift

Hourly Rate: $26.45

CSI understands clients and staff have been impacted by trauma.  CSI is becoming a trauma-informed organization by hiring individuals with existing experience in trauma-informed practices as well as supporting ongoing staff development with trauma-informed practices.  This will include learning to recognize symptoms of trauma and how to respond, through training starting at orientation and throughout their career at CSI.  CSI is committed to systematically evaluating the integration of the trauma-informed values of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment at all levels of the organization's policies, procedures, and structures to guard against the possibility of re-traumatization. Qualification:

  • Associate's degree in human services; or High School Diploma and minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Services
  • Successfully working or in college required.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills desired.
  • Experience working with the population preferred.
