MAILROOM SPECIALIST TEMPORARY (ON CALL)
Position Summary
Temporary position. No benefits. Provides postal services to the University community and performs duties incumbent upon a U.S. Postal Services Sub-Station.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Two years work experience of a qualifying nature.
Demonstrated experience with data entry and basic keyboarding.
Must be able to lift 70 pounds.
Knowledge of computerized systems equipment.
Demonstrated capability to correctly perform the arithmetic functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of USPS and UPS regulations.
Knowledge of campus buildings and departments.
Familiarity with computerized meter equipment.
Familiarity with preparing UPS packages for shipment using a UPS World Ship system.
Ability to adjust quickly from the operation of one piece of machinery to another without diminished work output.
Ability to complete task that requires analytical thinking.
Demonstrated ability to complete multiple assignments simultaneously.
Ability to make adjustments to relatively sophisticated machinery.
Duties & Responsibilities
Sorts campus and USPS mail.
Prepares international mail for pickup.
Meters USPS mail on computerized meter machine.
Prepares certified, registered and insured mail for USPS.
Answers telephone inquires relative to postal services and Central Mailroom procedures.
Assists customers at the mailroom window.
Knowledge of US Postal Service forms and regulations.
Valid Driver's License.
Communicate directly with customers when needed.
Opens and routes mail.
Sets up, operates and makes necessary adjustments to and maintains automatic meter mail machines and Kiosk.
Prepares materials for shipping and/or mailing.
Prioritizes jobs and deadlines.
Keep area of personal postal stock with postal supplies.
Completes special projects as assigned.
