Quality Control Inspection Technician – Level 1

Location: Clearwater, FL
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Type: Temp-to-Perm

Position Summary

The Quality Control Inspection Technician – Level 1 is an entry-level role ideal for individuals looking to start a career in quality assurance and electronics manufacturing. Working under the direct guidance of senior QC staff and the QC Manager, this position supports the inspection and verification of incoming materials, in‐process assemblies, and finished products at our Clearwater, FL facility.
This is a hands-on training opportunity that builds a strong foundation in inspection techniques, quality processes, and solid-state motor control product standards—offering excellent long-term growth potential within our Quality and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming Material Inspection (with supervision)

  • Assist in inspecting incoming electronic components, hardware, and subassemblies against packing slips, purchase orders, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Verify part numbers, quantities, and visual condition of materials such as SCRs, PCBs, contactors, transformers, capacitors, and control hardware.
  • Learn to review certificates of conformance and material documentation for accuracy.
  • Identify and tag suspect or non‐conforming materials; notify QC Supervisor for disposition.
  • Support logging of inspection results into inspection records and the Quality Management System (QMS).

In‐Process & Final Inspection (with supervision)

  • Assist with in‐process visual inspections of solid-state motor control assemblies at designated production checkpoints.
  • Learn to use basic inspection tools including calipers, multimeters, and continuity testers.
  • Verify component placement, labeling, fastener installation, and wiring completeness per work instructions and production travelers.
  • Assist with final visual inspection of completed starters, motor controllers, and protection products prior to testing and shipment.
  • Identify and report visible defects, assembly errors, or workmanship concerns.
  • Support completion of production traveler documentation and inspection checklists.

Documentation & Quality Support

  • Accurately record inspection observations, results, and measurements in logs and the QMS.
  • Assist in completing non‐conformance reports (NCRs) as directed.
  • Maintain organized inspection records in accordance with company documentation standards.
  • Support calibration activities by identifying, tagging, and submitting tools per the calibration schedule.
  • Assist with data entry and quality metrics reporting as assigned by the QC Manager.

Learning & Development:

• Actively participate in on-the-job training covering Company’s solid state motor control products, quality standards, inspection procedures, and safety requirements

• Develop working knowledge of Company’s product portfolio including solid state AC motor starters, reduced voltage soft starters, and motor protection and control products

• Learn to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions with guidance from senior QC staff

• Build familiarity with quality concepts including visual inspection standards, electronic workmanship criteria, and non-conformance documentation

• Learn and follow all applicable electrical safety rules, ESD precautions, and PPE requirements in Company’s production and test areas

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with 5S and OSHA standards

• Demonstrate growing independence, accuracy, and productivity as experience and training progress

Qualifications Required:

• High school diploma or GED

• 1–3 year of experience in a manufacturing, inspection, assembly, or quality-related role; recent technical school or community college graduates encouraged to apply

• Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude; ability and eagerness to learn to use hand tools and measurement instruments

• Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy and quality

• Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions, checklists, and production travelers

• Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation

• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented with a positive, eager-to-learn attitude

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work comfortably in an active electronics production environment

Preferred (not required):

• Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or coursework in Electronics Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Quality Technology, or a related field

• Any prior exposure to quality inspection, PCB assembly, electronic manufacturing, or production in an industrial setting

• Basic familiarity with multimeters, calipers, or other measurement and test tools

• Interest in or foundational knowledge of solid-state electronics, motor controls, or power electronics

With demonstrated performance, skill development, and growing product knowledge, Level 1 Technicians are eligible to advance to the QC Inspection Technician Level 2 role, which carries increased inspection autonomy, broader product scope, and responsibility. Work Environment

This is a hands-on, production floor-based role within Company’s climate-controlled Clearwater, FL manufacturing facility located at 1600 Sunshine Drive. The Level 1 Technician will work under close supervision in an active electronics manufacturing environment that includes PCB assembly operations, solid state component handling, and proximity to energized test equipment. ESD (electrostatic discharge) precautions are required throughout the production area. Personal Protective Equipment including safety glasses and ESD wrist straps is provided.

Compensation & Benefits

This position is temp to permanent. Competitive entry-level hourly rate. Starting at $19.00. Upon full time hire, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, company provided life insurance, paid time off, 401K and other voluntary benefit programs are also offered. There is a clear path for advancement into higher-level QC and quality engineering roles.
