Job Summary
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily quality control operations within an electronics manufacturing environment. This role ensures that products meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards by leading quality inspections, managing a team of inspectors/technicians, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Assurance
- Supervise incoming, in-process, and final product inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Ensure adherence to IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610) and other applicable regulations.
- Review and approve inspection reports, test results, and documentation.
- Monitor product quality metrics such as defects, yields, and scrap rates.
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and mentor quality inspectors and technicians.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor team performance.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching for improvement.
- Ensure proper staffing levels to meet production demands.
Process Improvement
- Identify root causes of defects and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes and reduce defects.
- Support Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Audits
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485 quality management systems.
- Participate in internal and external audits (customer, regulatory, certification).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality documentation and records.
Customer & Supplier Quality
- Support customer complaint investigations and resolution.
- Work with suppliers to address incoming quality issues and improve performance.
- Assist in supplier audits and evaluations.
Reporting & Analysis
- Track and report key quality KPIs to management.
- Analyze quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports for management reviews.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Quality Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 3–5+ years of quality experience in electronics manufacturing.
- 2+ years previous supervisory or leadership experience.
- Experience with PCB assembly, SMT processes, or electronic components is highly desirable.
- Lean and IPC-A-610 Certification highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of quality tools (FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, 8D).
- Familiarity with IPC standards and electronic testing methods.
- Leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and ERP systems.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
