Job description

We are seeking an experienced PCB Quality Inspector with expertise in IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards to join our growing electronics manufacturing team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of printed circuit boards (PCBs), including surface mount (SMT) and through-hole assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed quality inspection of PCBs, including SMT and through-hole assemblies, in accordance with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards
  • Conduct visual inspection using microscopes and magnification tools to evaluate solder joints, component placement, and workmanship
  • Inspect bare circuit boards to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards prior to assembly
  • Use and interpret electronic measuring instruments to validate electrical characteristics of assemblies
  • Operate mechanical measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) to verify dimensions and tolerances
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure inspection accuracy
  • Accurately document inspection results using computer-based systems in compliance with industry and company standards
  • Identify and report nonconformances, collaborating with engineering and production teams for resolution
  • Work independently to prioritize workload and meet production schedules
  • Maintain effective communication with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent product quality
  • Follow all quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures to meet regulatory and customer requirements
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing environment

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in PCB inspection (SMT and through-hole assemblies)
  • Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards
  • Current IPC-A-610 certification (required)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain J-STD-001 certification
  • Experience with bare board PCB inspection
  • Proficiency in quality assurance and quality control practices within electronics manufacturing
  • Skilled in using microscopes, magnification devices, and inspection tools
  • Experience with electronic and mechanical measuring devices
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical data packages
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and visual acuity
  • Basic math skills for measurement and reporting
  • Proficiency with computer systems and inspection documentation tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $34.00/hr.
