Overview
The Payroll Specialist supports the Provider Payroll Team, ensuring accurate and timely payment to providers according to their contracts. This includes managing all or part of the tasks required to complete payroll processing such as incentives, training, sick pay, bonuses, and advance pay. Promptly addresses inquiries to mitigate pay-related risks. Collaborates with various PDS Health departments to ensure pay accuracy aligns with recorded provider payroll data points. Requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance with all state and federal regulations, executed within critical timelines. Key attributes include dedication to teamwork, critical thinking, strong customer service, multitasking ability, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to process improvement. This role also produces reports for various departments and management.
Responsibilities
  • Accurate and timely processes the tasks required to complete semi-monthly and monthly provider payroll, including incentives, bonuses, advances, minimum salary, training, sick pay, guarantee period, and 90-day reconciliations.
  • Reviews and analyzes provider contracts to ensure compensation data is accurately set up in the provider pay compensation system.
  • Monitors and manages high ticket volumes, providing timely and accurate responses to inquiries from providers, field team members, and other PDS Health staff.
  • Collaborates with field team members (OM/RM/RP/TP/OD) to complete audits where potential errors may have occurred.
  • Communicates payroll procedures, practices, and policies to office and regional management, facilitating understanding of pay and payroll processes.
  • Provides training to field team members regarding the self-service portal.
  • Analyzes current payroll procedures and practices to identify opportunities for efficiency, effectiveness, and process 10streamlining.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements new approaches to payroll policies and procedures to drive continuous improvement and departmental efficiency.
  • Conducts UAT testing for system changes related to payroll policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Stays current on new legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll.
  • Creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensures compliance with all policies and standards, as well as state, federal and other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of experience is required.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of general payroll practices, Federal and State regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, multi-state, and local tax regulations.
  • Minimum Excel Skills - basic pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, concatenate.

Preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
  • Experience in a multi-regional healthcare, retail, or dental company.
  • Experience in Workday Payroll or similar systems implementation.
  • Ticketing system experience (a plus).
  • Workday experience (a significant plus).
