Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
This role supports a high-volume distribution facility by safely preparing, moving, and organizing materials for shipping and receiving. You will follow established standard operating procedures and work instructions while operating material handling equipment and using technology to ensure accurate and efficient order processing.
Responsibilities
- Prepare materials for shipping and receiving by following written standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and cherry pickers to move, store, and retrieve products within the distribution facility.
- Work at elevated heights when using reach trucks or cherry pickers to place or retrieve products from storage locations.
- Use handheld RF scanners to pick, load, and track inventory accurately.
- Perform general warehouse and production duties, including order picking, material handling, loading, and palletizing.
- Use pallet jacks to move pallets and materials safely throughout the facility.
- Operate tape guns, calculators, and measuring tools to prepare and verify shipments and packaged goods.
- Enter and update data in computer systems, including basic use of Excel and MS Word, to support inventory and order processing.
- Follow all safety procedures and equipment guidelines while operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Support inventory control activities, including inventory counting and cycle counting, to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards.
- Stand for extended periods during the shift and lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks.
Essential Skills
- Experience working in a warehouse, distribution, or general production environment.
- Ability to safely operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts.
- Ability to operate reach trucks and cherry pickers, including working at elevated heights.
- Proficiency in basic material handling tasks such as picking, loading, and palletizing.
- Experience using handheld RF scanners for picking and inventory tracking.
- Ability to use pallet jacks and other manual material handling tools.
- Comfort with standing for up to 12 hours during a shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to perform data entry.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow written standard operating procedures and work instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a warehouse worker, order picker, or material handler.
- Experience in inventory counting and cycle counting.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and MS Word.
- Experience using Oracle or similar warehouse or enterprise systems.
- Comfort working with tape guns, calculators, and measuring tools in a warehouse setting.
- Previous experience in a climate-controlled distribution facility.

Work Environment
This position is based in a climate-controlled distribution facility designed to support comfort and consistency throughout the year. You will work around powered industrial trucks, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and cherry pickers, as well as pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment. The role requires standing for up to 12 hours and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly. Typical schedules include a first shift of Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., depending on operational needs. You will work with computers, handheld RF scanners, tape guns, calculators, and measuring tools in a structured environment that follows detailed standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of LEBANON, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.50 - $21.28/hr.
