JOB TITLE: Loan Officer Assistant (4 Month Temporary Assignment)
Functional Area: Mortgage Lending
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
This four-month temporary assignment provides the opportunity to step into a role and gain hands-on experience as a Loan Officer Assistant. During the assignment, the specific work and projects will be customized based on the candidate's experience, skillset and development goals during the duration of the assignment.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Temporary Loan Officer Assistant who is driven to have a positive impact on the employee and member experience. If you're always looking for more efficient and innovative ways of working, are thoughtful, intentional, and collaborative, we would love to talk to you!
The Temporary Loan Officer Assistant serves as a key support partner to Mortgage Loan Officers, acting as a primary point of contact for members throughout the loan origination process in support of licensed loan activity. This role is responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and member-focused service while supporting lead management, loan origination activities, documentation coordination, and file progression from application through closing.
The Temporary LOA plays a critical role in ensuring a smooth, complaint, and positive experience for members while enabling Loan Officers to focus on consultative and licensed responsibilities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Member Experience & Communication
  • Act as a primary point of contact for members, providing responsive, professional, and supportive service throughout the loan process.
  • Return phone calls, emails, and digital inquiries promptly in alignment with service standards.
  • Respond to and manage new leads in a timely manner.
  • Assist with scheduling, confirming, and managing Loan Officer appointments.
  • Send pre-qualification links, onboarding materials, and needs lists to members on behalf of the Loan Officer.
  • Follow up with members regarding outstanding documentation and provide clear guidance on next steps.
  • Upload, organize, and maintain member documentation within internal loan systems.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Demonstrates commitment to SCU Values.

Lead Management & Pipeline Support
  • Review inbound leads and web applications to identify viable opportunities for conversion.
  • Prepare leads for Loan Officer outreach and consultation.
  • Support the conversion of leads to applications through proactive communication and coordination.
  • Monitor pipeline activity and assist in keeping loans moving forward through key milestones.

Loan Origination Support
  • Assist Loan Officers in completing accurate and compliant Uniform Residential Loan Applications (Form 1003).
  • Analyze borrower credit and financial information to support appropriate loan product discussions (under the direction of the Loan Officer).
  • Run credit reports and Automated Underwriting System (AUS) findings as permitted.
  • Prepare Initial Fee Worksheets and support loan pricing in alignment with Seattle Credit Union guidelines.
  • Update credit reports, AUS findings, and loan file data as needed.
  • Collect, review, and organize documentation required for pre-approval and loan submission.

Processor & File Coordination
  • Partner closely with Loan Processors to ensure required documentation is collected and submitted timely.
  • Assist in gathering, tracking, and uploading conditions requested by processing and underwriting.
  • Support resolution of file issues to maintain momentum and avoid delays.
  • Ensure loan files are complete, accurate, and progressing efficiently through the pipeline.

Operational & Administrative Support
  • Maintain accurate loan files and member records across all required systems.
  • Ensure documentation is properly uploaded, labeled, and stored in accordance with internal standards.
  • Monitor file status and assist with managing deadlines and workflow priorities.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to Loan Officers as needed.

Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure all activities align with Seattle Credit Union policies, regulatory requirements, and member privacy standards.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and proper documentation.
  • Support a compliant, audit-ready loan process at all times.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1 year of mortgage lending or related financial services experience required
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service mindset with a sense of urgency and follow-through
  • Proficiency with loan origination systems, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Alignment with Seattle Credit Union's mission of serving and empowering our communities

Working Conditions:
  • This is a hybrid role with work performed remotely as well as in an office and/or branch environment in the Greater Seattle area of Washington State.
  • Team members may attend special off-hour meetings and seminars.
  • The nature of work may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Compensation: Compensation is based on the candidate's geographical location, calculated based on an adjustment factor from the Seattle area market compensation.
