Job description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead the organization's financial operations. This role is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, cash flow management, inventory controls, and financial planning. The Controller serves as a key business partner to executive leadership, providing financial insight that supports profitable growth and operational excellence.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Develop and recommend financial strategies, objectives, policies, and procedures that support business goals.
  • Prepare and present accurate financial statements, forecasts, and management reports.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor performance against budget objectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve financial systems, internal controls, and accounting processes.
  • Manage cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Monitor operating cash flow and support working capital management initiatives.
  • Oversee inventory management and cycle count programs to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Support new business opportunities through quoting analysis, capital investment evaluations, and financial modeling.
  • Review customer and supplier contracts for financial and business implications.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and accounting standards.
  • Provide timely financial reporting and analysis to executive leadership.
  • Support quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts across the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members.
  • Participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training activities.
  • Establish performance expectations and conduct employee evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Address employee concerns and support effective problem resolution.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with cost accounting, inventory management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting required.

Technical Skills

  • Strong ERP system experience; Epicor experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Experience with payroll, budgeting, and financial planning software is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
